but that doesn't explain boogie and capela. or the fact smart played a ton for a team one game from the finals. capela would've gotten a straight max offer in 2016 and now is posting sad emojis.
They are practically the same player, one is Kobe beef the other is Mcdonalds beef but it is still beef in the end.
And zach Levine just got $20mm a year and Kyle Anderson just got $9mm. Trevor got $15mm for one year. Boogie is useless this year. Capela was good when teams had KAT and Gobert (centers teams felt they must play), but our beat lineups were without him out against the warriors (and really any time other teams go small). You can't slot Capella into a team just that easily. One on one defenders, who are not 6`6 loses value if they can't shoot. It's sad but we're in a league now that unless you're really good inside (55% plus on defended shots) or can hit 33% on threes, you're an liability on the floor now.
there was way more money in 2016 than this year. that's just a fact. in 2016, 13 guys signed a multi-year contract worth at least 23.5M per year (9 contracts worth at least 98M total). this included guys like parsons and harrison barnes and bradley beal. another 7 guys got at least 4 yr/$70M + fournier got 5/85. this included biyombo, luol deng, joakim noah, and evan turner. mozgov was barely an nba player at that point and he got 4 for 64 literally the minute free agency opened. capela was part of the harden/paul/capela group that barely lost a game this season because he's switchable and a rim rolling big for the modern nba. capela would be getting max offers this second if there was as much cap room as there was in 2016. ariza not only would have gotten 15, but it would have probably been 4 for 60 instead of 1 for 15. there have really only been 4 real big contracts this offseason, 3 of them to absolute premiere free agents (lebron, paul, george) and not run of the mill guys like harrison barnes and the 4th wasn't really free agency as it was jokic being let out of his team option just to sign a bigger deal with his current team.
Yes, but that's not the reasons some guys aren't getting paid. Priorities on who gets paid changed as well
