What's your vote, emjohn? You've been particularly critical of the team. i hate hate hate to say it...but everytime i do this, i have them coming out with 8 wins. i want to be wrong.
I predict a slow start and a fast finish (once we're all but eliminated from playoff contention). It's the Kubiak Way, after all. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but..... 9-7, no playoffs Sep 12 Colts L Sep 19 @ WAS L Sep 26 Cowboys W Oct 03 @ OAK W Oct 10 Giants L Oct 17 Chiefs W ------------------------- Bye Week ------------------------- Nov 01 @ IND L Nov 07 Chargers L Nov 14 @ JAX L Nov 21 @ NYJ W Nov 28 Titans W Dec 02 @ PHI L Dec 13 Ravens W Dec 19 @ TEN W Dec 26 @ DEN W Jan 02 Jags W

The subtraction of Chris Brown the running back, the rise of Arian Nation, a healthy and stable O-line along with the return of daniels* places the Texans at 11-5. The offense alone will give them a chance to win every game, much like last year. *if something happens to O.D (knocking on wood), Schaub has gotten comfortable passing to the other TEs.
Wow, so far 3 out of 5 people have us being 5-1 at the bye-week. That would be REALLY nice, but I just don't see it happening.
I try to let any poll I create get a headstart before voting - I try to make a habit out of not "leading" the witness or opening a thread in a biased fashion. Too many "here's what I think, vote my way!" threads out there. I'd hope I'm not coming across as a hater or bitter guy regarding the team. I want the best for them and out of them, and I wouldn't get wound up if I didn't care. I've been attending the games a season ticket holder since game 1. Not saying that to boast, but to lend perspective on who I am as a fan. It may be fair to say that I'm quick to yap about things that bug me and not quick enough to applaud them for things they do well (all involved in the passing attack). I'm concerned about this season. If things stayed equal, if this team could play last year over again, I'd be right with those thinking 10 or 11 wins. Unfortunately, I think Cushing's suspension costs us a game. I think the much more difficult schedule costs us a game. Overall, I don't see any significant improvements (Tate lost, Jackson replaces Dunta, Cody improves line?) to make up for the challenges. This team had the talent and ability to win 11 games last year and make the playoffs, but their baffling tendency to either come out flat or blow huge leads cost them dearly. Those are nasty habits to break, but they have to in order to progress. I desperately hope they do, and that Slaton's preseason deja vu goalline fumble wasn't an ominous sign. I'll note that when I break down the schedule, I automatically start by making us 0.500 within the division. Automatically marking down wins at home, losses on the road. Seems weird, but Divisional matchups matter in the NFL. Stay away from them in Survivor or Pick Em Leagues - half the major upsets come from them. And then there's our pitiful divisional history: 1-5 last year, 2-4 in 2008, 1-5 in 2007. So giving them 0.500 may be optimistic at this point. I also weigh homefield and try to keep match up categories simple: obvious wins, obvious losses, coinflip. Coinflips will go by homefield. How I have it: Colts W @ WAS L Cowboys W @ OAK W -->Can't see us nabbing a perfect 4 with Cushing out, but this should be a better opening month for us than in prior years. I think we have a good shot at the Colts, even if the W I listed was a dubious autofill. If the Cowboys don't turn things around, they could be killed this season. Giants L Chiefs W BYE @ IND L Chargers L -->Tough stretch, aside from the Chiefs. The bye should give us a decent crack at the Colts. @ JAX L @ NYJ L Titans W @ PHI L Ravens L @ TEN L -->Rough back end of the season for the team. If we're riding high and peaking, we could nab those coveted 10 wins. There's potential for Philly to slip badly under Kolb. Jets and Ravens will be tough. @ DEN W Jaguars W -->Nice finish there if we get 7 or 8 wins prior to Xmas season.
i was curious why everyone had washington beating the texans so I reviewed their roster....Joey Galloway is still playing?!
LOL at the 7-9 predictions. Either you guys are expecting major injuries which can happen to any team or you don't know jack squat about the NFL.
Wow. Good one. I had them at 11-5 last season and we would've have gotten there if it wasn't for the Brown sisters. You probably have them at 2-14 this season. 9-7 seems too optimistic for someone who b****es as much as you
i don't like the "or better" aspect of the option, but i called 11 in the early pre-season (after NO) and will stick with it.
