If Lowry and (maybe even) Martin don't return soon.... ...and the former won't, and the latter, well, is he rehabbing his shoulder or his psyche?... ...then we're looking at not losing our first rounder, say: #14 (again) #15 (NY pick) #22 (Dallas pick, with any luck; never thought I'd be rooting for the Mavs to win) When you look at those potential picks, Morey MIGHT be able to move up in the draft. You have D-Mo and MAYBE Llull coming over (if you offer him a contract that makes his buyout easier), so there are other possibilities of packaging picks and players to grab that elusive All Star-ish player (Bosh? Rondo? P. Gasol?) I just don't know. Better to make the playoffs than keep our pick, but it won't happen as the team is currently constructed.
I dont know about that. The way Phoenix is playing will make it tough on the Rockets, but keep in mind that the Rockets have 4 home games in a row coming up, and Phoenix has 5 road games coming up. The Rockets need to figure out what they are going to do for a PG very, very soon. IMO, they should bring up Conroy or sign Carter instead of rolling the dice with a more high level talent in the D-League who has a higher risk of alot of turnovers and bad play. If you look at the talent level between Phoenix, Utah, Minnesota, and Houston, the Rockets "Should" end up with the best record.
nah dude. Official prediction: new york will miss the playoffs by one game. The Bucks take the 8th seed in the East. Houston, sneaks into the playoffs by 1-game, NJ is pretty happy with our pick being 20ish. Your Dallas pick forcast is right on point IMHO. so....Rockets pick #10 & #22. Hopefully we package them both to get #7. Then go BPA.
Sadly, I don't think a single team in the top-8 would be interested in trading down for an assortment of picks headlined by the #14 pick. While first round rookie scale contracts are going to be more highly coveted under the new CBA, I don't think any team that has a chance to get a quality long-term starter with, say, the #7 pick will trade it for the chance to get 2-3 bench guys with #14, #15 and #22. My preference would be to make the playoffs and then try to trade up (even a few spots) using #15 and #22, if the Rockets peg a guy at, say, #11 who could really help them. Maybe they pick up a second rounder in the deal, as well. With Motiejunas (another player valued in the late lottery range) already committed to coming over next year, I don't want to be "stuck" with THREE more quality (but not great) young guys coming in all at once. There won't be minutes in the rotation for more than one of them. It will be Marcus Morris's rookie year all over again, only worse. Better to get that NJ pick obligation out of the way, add potentially TWO mid- to late lottery talents in Motiejunas and the Knicks' pick (or the product of a trade up using the NYK and DAL picks), then be able to use "an unprotected 2013 first round pick" as a key piece to a trade package for a star player.
Draft picks we owe other and Picks Owed us. FYI seems to be a lot of confusion on Picks hopes this helps. 2012 first round draft pick from New York New York's own 2012 1st round pick to Houston (top 5 protected in 2012, top 5 protected in 2013, top 5 protected in 2014, and top 5 protected in the 2015 Draft). If Houston does not receive a 1st round pick from New York by the 2015 Draft, then New York will convey their own 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Houston. [Houston - New York - Sacramento, 2/18/2010] 2012 first round draft pick from Dallas Dallas' own 2012 first round draft pick to Houston via the L.A. Lakers (top 20 protected in the 2012 draft, top 20 protected in 2013, top 20 protected in 2014, top 20 protected in 2015, top 20 protected in 2016, top 20 protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft). [Dallas - L.A. Lakers, 12/11/2011 and then Houston-L.A. Lakers 3/15/2012] 2015 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers The L.A. Clippers' own 2015 2nd round pick to Houston via Toronto (if pick is 51 - 55). If the L.A. Clippers' own 2015 2nd round pick is not among the 51st through 55th picks, then the L.A. Clippers' obligations to Houston shall be extinguished. [L.A. Clippers - Toronto, 1/7/2009 and then Houston - Toronto, 7/28/2010] 2012 first round draft pick to New Jersey Houston's own 2012 1st round pick to New Jersey (top 14 protected in 2012, top 14 protected in 2013, top 14 protected in 2014, top 14 protected in 2015 and top 14 protected in the 2016 Draft). If New Jersey does not receive a 1st round pick from Houston by the 2016 Draft, then Houston will convey their own 2017 2nd round pick and cash to New Jersey. [Houston - Los Angeles Lakers - New Jersey, 12/15/2010] 2012 second round draft pick to Detroit Houston's own 2012 2nd round pick to Detroit (top 40 protected in 2012, top 35 protected in 2013, top 35 protected in 2014 and unprotected in the 2015 Draft). [Detroit - Houston, 6/25/2009] 2013 second round draft pick to Atlanta Houston's own second round draft pick to Atlanta in the "First Allowable Draft" (top 40 protected until the 2016 draft at which it will be unprotected in the 2016 draft). The First Allowable draft shall be the draft that occurs one year following the year in which Houston satisfies its existing obligation to convey a future second round draft pick to the Detroit Pistons from the trade involving Chase Budinger [Atlanta - Houston, 7/14/2009]
It's funny, I looked at that pick as nothing more than nominal consideration that was never actually going to be conveyed (which it actually was, since the only reason the pick was set up that way was because the Clips had already given up rights to picks 56-60). Then the Clippers acquired Chris Paul. While the pick isn't really a big deal (the Rockets could easily buy a pick in that range for some of Les's pocket change), there is actually a chance--IF Paul re-signs with the Clippers--that the Clippers could fall right within that range, having between the 6th and 10th best records in the league in the 2014-15 season. Again, not a big deal; but it's pretty funny how it actually might turn into something.
At the 14th or 15th pick... Hope Morey goes for Austin Rivers. That kid is gonna be a future nba all star.
Im pretty sure its safe to assume they are either getting the 14th or the 15th pick in the draft, or both if the Rockets loose out on the playoffs. There will be someone there for them to pick that has high potential. The Rockets are going to get at least one good player in this draft. Thats for sure.
There is a chance, but I def. wouldnt assume anything. The Bucks really are going to need to step it up. Alot of things have to happen for the Knicks to fall out.
I just don't know if there is a lot of time left in the season for the Bucks to pass the Knicks. I think at this time I would lust be happy if we got the 15th and 21st pics.
BTW, per chance that the Rockets fall into the lottery and Dallas finishes as one of the top ten teams in the league, does anyone believe for a second that DM will keep all three pics?
