I haven't watched him yet, but there is another way besides Defense, and that is playmaking and 40% 3 pt shooting and being a super friendly dude in the locker room.
If he translates to a minor role in the NBA, which i'd give it about a 35% chance of happening, he's exactly what we need at the back up 4.
I do have a question about this guy. Why didn't we just sign him last year instead of Terrence Jones? Would have made much more sense IMO to go with the better 3 pt shooter to see if he could earn backup 4 minutes instead of giving a contract to TJones. I like TJones but we kind of already know what he can and can't do on a basketball court. The same can not be said of this new look Bennett.
This is promising though. To hear that the guy failed out of the league in large part because of attitude/effort issues, stuff like that, could be fixed. It sounds like he's matured and realizes how fortunate he is to even have a shot at being an NBA player.
Hopefully he will make it to the roster. I always felt sorry for him the way everyone was making fun of him as a rookie.
I think cause he a big...I could care less points per game in the gleague cause guys are stat hunting...what is transferable is shooting percentages rebounds assits
Hard to believe, but the guy is still just 26 years old. He could play for years and still end up with a decent career if he can finally put it all together. I like his chances.
Anthony Bennett should play next to Capela, with P.J Tucker playing Small Forward. Anthony Bennett physically looks so strong, lost a lot of weight. Anthony looks really motivated. His shooting is so natural, he can really dribble like a guard, a crossover, quick shooter, very compact 3 point shooter form all areas from 3, a great passer, very smart creator. Can he shot block, rebound, does he have high IQ especially in Playoff level, bring toughness next to Capela, P.J. Questions are how move defensively against Point Guards on switches, does he play smart on offense and defense. Can Mike DAntoni trust him? If Anthony excels and breaks out and becomes a excellent player in this system he should start and P.J should play Small Forward.
Bennett has potential to pan out as a role player off the bench. I like the signing, non-guaranteed and for the minimum. At worst we cut him, at best we get productive minutes out of him.
I really believe in Anthony skillset to become a breakout player. Especially playing in Mike DAntoni system, with Harden and Westbrook creating open 3 point shots for others. Bennett, P.J, Eric on the floor with Harden, Westbrook. Bennett is really needed against Draymond 6'8 strong, big body, toughness, dirty, chippy, flagrant foul non calls, can he neutralize Draymond
Plus Anthony might know French coming from Canada, and Clint Capela knows French from Switzerland. This would be an interesting conversation.
Shouldn’t have been drafted high, tweeners got lucky because ball clubs thought tweeners were the next big thing.
Anthony is too good of a shooter to cut him, Rockets really need his 6'8 stretch PF, really need him against Draymond Green. I am internally wishing he breaks out and really wrecks the league. This is his real rookie season playing on a real team. First time playing with All Stars, and better Veterans. In a real Stretch PF or C offense, of Mike DAntoni. I really hope he can switch and is quick to guard Point Guards, like Curry, Trae Young. Does he have lateral quickness on defense, and IQ on defense and offense. That is what is needed in the playoffs.
Over-and-under on AB winning MIP and CC winning ROTY? Morey will then have worked TWO legit miracles, and the Pope will have to nominate him for sainthood.
