I think the only reason a S&T would make sense is if and when both or either team is over the cap. That way each team could still acquire the player without using cap space. Both teams have cap space and would need to use up all their cap space and then work out a S&T. Could be wrong though but that's the only reason I can think a S&T would be beneficial.
It doesn't matter, teams don't get that kind of return for rentals. Milsap will be 32 asking for a 5 year max next off season, he doesn't have that kind of value. I really do believe they would be interested in a package of Ariza and Beverley because they are absolutely perfect fits that would complete their roster. Add assets and it could work.
Milsap has real value. $20m is a steal for him, at this point. Here's the questions I have: - What is ATL's salary cap situation now with Dwight and Baze's salaries? - How much of Milsap's salary does ATL need to purge? - What other teams can absorb all of it with capspace? We can take all of it. He has real value. If ATL needs someone to eat ALL OF THE SALARY, then the only assets ppl can add as sweeteners are picks and rights to foreign players. The Rockets can match that. Rockets can also get involved in a 3-team trade, and get something of value back from the 3rd team.
I think you can because the draft year has already passed. We just couldn't trade out 2017 and 2018. We could trade our 2017 and 2019. Wouldn't do it. But you could.
Bev and Ariza make good sense for Atl, provides cheap quality depth. Millsap is older than we would like but would be about the best we could hope for talent wise at this point.
Name the other stretch 4's that have his combination of shooting, defense and rebound... Don't worry, I'll wait. You don't want Milsap but think it's okay if D-Mo gets 20 million. Lmfaoooo
It will have to be future picks for everyone, if ATL needs to clear all of his salary. Drafted players have cap holds.
We have nothing, but no Horford would make Millsap a great addition!! Now it would have been nice for Morey to have some draft picks and assetts..
That nets them only ~$7m in salary purge. Is that enough to sign Dwight and Baze and retain Horford's $18m cap hold? Can someone answer how much salary ATL must purge?
Suns and Celtics have tons of capspace and prospects and picks and they both want stars. So there you go. Someone explain what's the point in Atlanta getting Ariza when they just drafted two wings, resigned Bazemore and have Korver? Other teams can beat our best offer very easilly.
I think other teams can offer a better package of picks, that's not even a question honestly...but if they prefer a couple of cheap and good role players, maybe Ariza and Pat could be good enough... How much salary do they need to dump?
If ATL has to purge all of Millsaps salary, they can only take back future picks and rights to foreign players. ppl keep saying other teams can beat our best offer, but if ATL needs a complete salary purge, please state what those better offers are...and don't include ANY SALARY in that trade.
This thread is going nowhere until someone can answer this question. ATL is trying to use capspace on Dwight, Baze and retain Horford's $18m cap hold. How much of Millsap's $20m must they purge to someone with capspace?
it doesn't according to what I see here. http://heathoops.com/salary-index/cap-room-2016-17/ They need around 8 mil. And if you want no salary back sure. Suns: All the Miami picks they got. Celtics : Memphis 2018 1st, BKN 2017 pick . Good?
