Uhhh the Rockets have like 7 NBA caliber players on their roster. So the others aren’t any good and he IS trying to get rid of them.

No one gives a damn what those 6-7 D-Level players think, they already hurt the Rockets.

What Morley needed to do is let Harden and Paul and the other players worth a damn know that he is getting them help and don’t be discouraged. Which is exactly what he is doing by letting it out he is trying to add reinforcements.

Being pressured by clutchfans to trade Ryno. I never understood the hate for him, I always thought he was a decent 4. His replacement is a player that's never going to play.

I agree that there are far too many bad players on the roster, but do you think any of those bad players are going to put out maximum effort now that Morey has admitted to all and sundry that he made a mistake in signing them? And what does it do to their already rock-bottom trade value? You can tell Harden and Paul that you're working the phones and you're going to get help in private. What does ******** all over the players that are currently on the team accomplish?

It's quite comical that after Morey was named executive of the year he went and shat the bed so badly in the offseason that people are genuinely wondering if he is going to have a job with the Rockets next season.

The guys not helping us on the bench will still play hard because they are fighting for their careers. He didn’t single any particular player out.

The reality is that Morey certainly didn’t have a great summer but he was very limited in what he could do. He had an owner paying the luxury tax that wasn’t keen on spending much. He knew Moute was hurt and Ariza was offered a huge amount. He had minimum salaries and the MLE to work with and he had a coach that insisted that Anderson be gone. He did well with Ennis and not so well with MCW and Anthony. However those were minimum guys.

Chris Paul got Morey headlines and now he's going to get Morey fired.

Stop being obtuse. Why don't you also pull up his shooting numbers and BPM (advanced stats) real quick?

The only bad move by Morey on paper was him letting Luc walk. Melo for vet min? It was a low risk high reward move and it failed so we froze him out. There were very little options for Houston this offseason to improve the team. Chriss and Knight for Ryno was solid, Chriss unfortunately is just a low BBIQ player. Knight hasn't played yet, but I'm not really expecting much anyway. Ennis was a solid pickup, MCW... well the fact that he's not getting minutes anymore is good.

On paper staying the course and not making huge moves was the best plan at the time.

The only thing this team has left is praying a disgruntled star becomes available so we can make one last ditch effort to build a big three before CP3 becomes a role player. Last season was our best chance, this season is the last time we're going to have even a small chance. We are done next season, hopefully Morey realizes that.

All in all, Morey's luck ran out. I don't really blame him.

I don't know how this season will turn out. I am not as optimistic as you and some other posters. I was just observing that the way you guys talk sounded eerily like a lot of the talks back in the 15-16 season.

The West is shaping up very differently this season. Yes, we are only 5.5 games behind the leader. But we are also just one game ahead of the 14th seed. We are one of only four teams that are under .500. If anything, this season is more competitive. And the scary thing is, we were supposed to just worry about Golden State. They are not even the top team due to injuries. If people are talking about "we'll be fine when healthy" then we are still far behind GSW when THEY are healthy.

Frankly I thought we overachieved last year and was never that optimistic about this season. Certainly didn’t think we would beat GSW this year.

It seems Morey is trying to shuffle/consolidate contracts so we can get actual decent role players. Will it work? Maybe? Maybe not? Luckily the West is weird this year.

However, I am not against “can kicking” until next season if we can’t make it work.

Luc's been injured almost the entire year so that wouldn't have really helped us at all. I still think effort is the biggest issue tbh. Top to bottom the team doesn't look like they have a goal they're chasing right now. They look like they just want it to be the playoffs already while taking for granted that they'll be there at all.

After trading the future for one good year of Chris Paul, there's not much Morey can do here. CP3 is playing nowhere close to all-star level, Morey couldn't afford Ariza, was forced to overpay for Capela, and hoped he'd get anything out of the Anderson trade besides jettisoning the bad contract. He took a bunch of flyers on Ariza/LMAM replacements and right now none of them panned out. Just one of those years.
