Guys, is it too late for us to compete for Zion and Barrett?

As today we are 11-14 with only 7 teams with a worse record, and a couple of them are pretty close (Wizards and Nets are one and three games behind), if we lose two more games in a row we're 6th in the lottery, just saying...i think that if we want to lose, we can lose. After all Memphis with Gasol on the court last season still managed to have the second worst record in the league...i mean, with Conley out they were not good obviously, but they were still better than teams like Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Brooklyn, New York, Sacramento.

Tanking for players is dumb. It is not like before the Lottery. You don't even have an assurance you will get a top 3 pick....lol. No way the Rockets tank....not with this payroll....unless Harden gets hurt. Even then, no assurance they would.

Trade CP3 and play MCW at PG for 48 minutes a game. We will be in Phoenix and Cleveland territory quickly. Also we could use the rest of the season to let Clint practice his 3s.

No one has assurance. Yet several teams are tanking. We are 5 games away from having the 2nd worst record in the NBA. Having a small percentage chance to get Zion is immeasurably better than having no chance. Some here don't realize his combination of size/strength/athleticism. Duke won yesterday 91-58, and Zion had 20pts on 7-11 shooting, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists and 2 Steals.

I was at the game, actually. Amongst the three prospects Duke has, RJ is the one with the highest likelihood of being an all time great. I have serious doubts that Zion can stay healthy enough in the long term. He's more massive in person than he looks on TV...

Isn't the draft lottery smoothened this year so that the middle teams have as much a shot at the top 3 as the bottom? Can't Harden and Paul pretend to be injured like Robinson the year before Duncan or Wade before Beasley? Zion catching them lobs would be pretty sweet.

Even the 6th or 7th best player in the draft would be helpful. There is no way to guarantee the top pick, you have to plan for an unlucky lottery.

For example, having Mikal Bridges on this roster would not only solve a big part of our depth issue, but would also help our cap by having a cheap contributor locked down for many years. Not to mention the ability to trade that pick/player for another team's disgruntled star.

i think we are much closer to being a lottery team than we are to making it back to the WCF. So i think focusing on the future as opposed to sticking with the win-now strategy makes a lot of sense. but i honestly don't see how we nab Zion without the basketball gods interfering. We're bad, but we should be late lotto at worst.

They say the best day to plant a tree is 20 years ago.

    Second best day? Today.

Wherever he goes he'll be the steal of the draft
