Not surprising, with the rumors flying about selling the team last year and the new scoreboard being installed, it was only a matter time.
They just said on Fox 26 there is no risk the new owners will move the team because the Astros have a long-term lease with MMP? Wonder if the new owners will want to keep Wade, Mills.
Yea, Stros have a great ballpark, that is about to get better and making money so leaving would make no sense and probably get rejected by MLB owners. Mills is VERY respected among MLB but Wade, while respected, isn't a lock IMHO.
Damn, say what you want about Drayton but the guy cares about winning and would do anything he could to try and improve the team. I feel much safer with Drayton at the helm than another random person. Hope this turns out for the best.
Also, there is no way this team could get moved. First the owners would have to pay a large sum to even leave MMP. Secondly I'd love to see another city that could support a team better than Houston could.
I always thought he was a great owner never understood the criticism. If you ever listen to 610 and Barry Warner you would think Drayton had a affair with his wife... I hope we get somebody local but probaly unlikely. 800 million ? wow werent the texans bought for 700?
Cuban could afford it, although 800 MILLION(Edit) is pretty high for a MLB team, and would bring instant credibility and significant buzz to Houston.
Nobody would pay $700 million for this team much less $800 million. Between $500 million and $600 million is more likely.
REALLY LOL??? Well, the guy couldn't get Crane to bite at 600k so it will probably be someone with SERIOUS cash.
Make me the GM and throw in some coins... Promise you one thing, I won't over spend on middle relief.
I will say he was a really good owner until around the time Hunsicker left. Now it's time for a change.
