Not surprising at all. He is not very bright. He had the intelligence and maturity of a young child. No doubt someone easily manipulated him. He never should have returned home.
I don't know why some of these central american players go back to their home countries. Stay in the States where you are safe and have millions of dollars. Go back and you have a bullseye on your back. You always hear of kidnappings, murders, extortion, shootings. It's just not safe. Stay here and live the dream life, sponsor your family and bring them all here with you. Live happily ever after.
Yeah, uh, family, friends, life. If you had unlimited (to them) money, would you never visit your parents?
Did yall miss the part where I said "sponsor your family and bring them all here with you" That's what my dad did when he left his craphole country (I wont say which one), and came to the US for a better life. He earned money then sponsored his whole family back home to immigrate here. Now they all livin that life.
Dallas Keuchel picked up his 4th win (4-5) last night against the Marlins for ATL: 6 IP, 6H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 4.14 ERA
In addition to what juicystream and others said...I'm gonna put on my Captain Obvious hat and say that the vast majority of MLB players that came from those countries very likely know and understand the actual conditions/risks/etc far better than you or me or most other folks on this forum. Home (family/friends/culture/etc) has a special place in a lot of people's hearts.
Well he is what we thought he’d be. A good pitcher that isn’t a ace, but is a definite workhorse. Can’t blame him for wanting to get paid for his Cy Young, but he’s not worth the money he was seeking.
And because those $40 million plus accumulated would stretch much further in a 3rd world country. Obviously having that type of money does have its risks.
Former Astros in Top 150 of position player fWAR: Laureano 2.9 Villar 2.8 Martinez 2.6 Pence 1.9 Davis 1.8 Castro 1.6 Marwin 1.5 Pitchers in top 150: Morton 5.2 Musgrove 2.5 Fiers 1.8 Giles 1.5 Hader 1.5 Thornton 1.3 Lyles 0.9 I’d be cool with a Maldonado/Castro catching unit next year. May not be in budget tho.
Interesting to see how poorly our DFA 2019 ex-Astros are doing: Tyler White w/ LAD: 0.045 AVG, 0.238 OPS (now injured) Max Stassi w/ LAA: 0.086 AVG, 0.240 OPS Tony Kemp w/ CHC: 0.184 AVG, 0.458 OPS They've all gotten substantially worse than the already-terrible they were (except Kemp, who was a reasonable backup w/ the Astros).
Man, Stassi has a .390 OPS this season. That's the worst number I can ever remember seeing this late in the season. Even worse than the Bogar calamity of 98, which has always been my barometer for awful seasons.
