Now that smoking is somewhat under control, and most people are aware of the dangers of smoking..shouldn't we focus our efforts on truly solving the reason for obesity?

How long are we going to let the food industry manipulate us to eat food that set us up for failure? I find it interesting that Kraft foods is owned by Philip Morris.

Most people are going for diet to diet..still eating the same foods that got them fat in the first place.

Yeah, let's just make a long list of what's next so we can ramp up our efforts to tell people how to live their lives because the collective knows what's best for everyone. Always.

Results, not excuses. What, you're in shape and you like sugar? TOO BAD. Cheeseburgers? THAT'S NEXT, PAL. Air?! HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT THEY ARE PUTTING IN THAT STUFF?!

People know sugar is bad for them, it is just delicious. With that said, High-fructose corn syrup and tons of carbs are why we have an obesity problem, not sugar.

A calorie is a calorie is a calorie. If a fatty wants to lose weight and still enjoy their sugar they need to eat less of it in order to lose weight but technically they can go on an all sugar diet and lose weight. They won't get the other necessary vitamins and nutrients that help make the body run and feel optimal but you can sure as hell lose weight eating just sugar.

Fat = root of all evil
Carbs = root of all evil

Seriously, just track what you're eating. 1500-1600 calories is about what you should be targeting for daily intake for healthy weight loss.

    Oh trends.
Back in the day fats were the root of all evil.
    Now its sugar.

Stop trying to eliminate things from a diet and preach a BALANCED diet.
Using sugar and carbs as a scapegoat for your weight is what promoted the monstrosity that is the Atkins diet.

    CARBS BAD!
    FAT PROTEIN GOOD!
Kidney stones and poor heart health! Yay!

    Half true.
Non complex-carbs burn faster, make you feel hungrier, can be burned off with exercise.
Protein and fats burn slower, fats pack a lot more calories per gram and protein can be used for muscle growth rather than stored as energy.

However, at the end of the day net calories of say... 1800 calories will cause both a 200 lb person and a 1000 lb person barring any weird abnormality to lose weight.

Yes. Your body can burn more calories in a day depending on your muscular structure, how much you exercise, how much you weight at the moment.
