    What the hell? :(

MDA: “We’re obviously searching for answers, and we haven’t found them yet. We’ll keep searching.”

At this stage of the season, the search appears to point to an inability to understand what caused the team’s slide to an 11-13 record. The Rockets know what needs to improve — they need to defend more effectively, rebound better and take care of the ball more reliably. But why that improvement remains so hard to attain has stumped players and coaches.

What a stupid thing to say. If you're not rebounding, protecting the ball and defending well then the answer is clear. It is systemic. It's not a skill deficit, it's not a strategy issue. There is simply a shortage of consistent desire to win.

Only teams who have things other than winning on their mind don't defend, rebound and protect the ball all at the same time.

But let's think about what's important here. All of this is really ruining Eric Gordon's fun.

Sometimes, it is better to say nothing.

The answer is right in front of them. I've been saying it all year.

They're just not a good basketball team. Clear as day.

What is he supposed to say?

There is a depth issue, effort issue and his best players are sick of being asked to carry a load larger than any in the league.

MDA is trying to avoid what he has done in the past, throw his players under the bus.

These issues are not going to suddenly get better. The depth on the roster isn’t going to suddenly get better from internal growth and Harden and Paul are not going to suddenly be enthusiastic about doing all the lifting and Coach isn’t going to suddenly motivate them.

It is all on Daryl Morey and ownership. They need to chart a course. So far Morey has missed out on several great opportunities.

    There you go.

It will be interesting to see what the "threshold" is. How much trouble will the team get into to the point we can afford to "wait" on a star VS adding "depth pieces."

Yes!!!! Totally agree. And when will people realize we are not merely one player away or one trade away from remedying this. In fact, the worst thing that could happen is people looking to Trevor as our savior of sorts should he find his way back to us.

Something is systemically rotten with this roster that needs to be rooted out.

Ariza did something that wasn't on the court apparently, somehow he got his teammates to play together and they aren't doing it anymore.

The key is to make Eric Gordon happy again. It will solve all the mysteries. I miss seeing joyful E-Go and his infectious smile.

I wonder as well. I don’t know how much of it is indecisive leadership at the top and how much of I had just been circumstances.

That's too obvious, though. The real question is: WHY aren't they a good basketball team, when they were one of the very best a year ago?

I like @JayZ750's take that the banishing of Melo and the return of Biglydick drove a bit of a wedge between the players and coaches. In particular, it seems that CP3 has something bothering him, and it's showing up in his play. Compound that disconnect between coaches and players by adding some shoddy bench play and you have a recipe for disaster.

MDA might be able to make it better by having a head-to-head with CP3, but from what I know of MDA, he's not very good at that aspect of coaching. He's a players' coach not because he relates well to them, but because his offensive style lets them play a looser style of ball.

It took a while, and I still understand his strengths, but I'm starting to see why the Clippers never went anywhere.

Harden took a bunch of nobodies to 50+ wins. Harden and Paul can do that with 4 good men and 2 D-leaguers if they want. Even if they feel strongly about needing more help (which we all do), pissing away a season with poor effort is not the solution.

This team is better than its record, even if we don't overplay Harden and Paul.

So infuriating. Paul signed for $30m+ with us over the cap and Capela in negotiations. Harden never wants to come out of the game, doesn't play defense, doesn't move off the ball, we get 100% of his value in creating points. If Harden isn't heavy lifting on points creation, he is not worth his contract either.

And if they think anything more than one and a half average role players are joining the team this season, they are dreaming. Draymond Green and Klay Thompson ain't walking through that door. Not for the Rockets or any other team paying luxury tax already.

MDA doesn't even want to change the starting lineup and refuses to call timeouts to stop the bleeding. He's the anti-change coach and that's bad for a team that desperately needs change.

Gotta stop wasting your time by asking the insiders Deuce. There is nothing good out there for the Rockets. I will say this much, lack of effort and hard work is preventing the team from playing like a playoff one. Stay health as much as possible, don't look for any saviors and try your best.Give 100 percent every night. Just that alone will take us into the playoffs.

Last season's team wasn't the most talented squad by any means, but they overachieved and almost knocked out GSW. We would have won the WC conference and gone on to win the NBA championship with a healthy CP3.

However the vets have got to stop feeling sorry for themselves! This is one of the factors I believe in our decline.
