I mean, yes, James is going to keep getting the max salary with or without an agent, and he already has a huge deal with Adidas.

But in theory the idea is the agent negotiates all those smaller endorsement deals that comprise a big part of an NBA star's income. It's not just about negotiating ability and connections either, it's also about having the time to deal with that stuff. Seems to me that an agent would pay for themselves many times over with things like that.

But hey, he's already set for life as long as he isn't a complete idiot with his money, so if this is what he wants to do, more power to him *shrug*.

 

Agent or not, everyone needs someone in their corner watching out for their behalf.
No one better fits that bill than your own mother.

People actin like James’s mom got promoted to ‘agent’ when in reality she’s da real mvp.

 

I used to work at the houston galleria apple store and James Harden's mom would come in all the time because we have a co worker that went to high school with James. I'm not sure how much she knows about being an agent, but she is very humble and a very nice person. She dresses in regular clothes and never wears any kind of flashy jewelry to draw any of attention. I'm sure she has the best intention for James and she will definitely be managing a lot of his money. This is the great move for James, believe it or not.
