He showed so much potential in the Titans game at the beginning of the season. The terrible QB play really put a damper on his development this season. Hope he can tear it up next season!

Receivers take time to develop, so putting up those numbers in his rookie season is very promising.

It would have been nice to have taken a guy like Ogletree instead of DeAndre and took a chance on a guy like Keenan Allen in the 3rd.

Hindsight is 20/20 but we could have used the depth at a position like LB or maybe even safety, a guy like Elam may have helped back there.

Hopkins was no where near the best receiver in last year's draft. And for a first round pick I wasn't impressed at all.

Exactly, Hopkins isn't a bust, showed lots of potential, and will only get better.

I didn't see anything worth FRANCHISE Caliber - #1 WR.

Allen was also a 1st round talent, just had off the field issues.
He even considered quitting football earlier this season because he wasn't getting the playing time he thought he deserved.

But look at all the rookie WRs, no really were stars, which is usual for rookie WRs, it takes time. Not worried at all, Hopkins showed lots of upside.

For a rookie, who wasnt the #1 option getting 800 yds in this anemic offense was terrific. Hopkins is gonna be a stud. Time will show this to be the case. Adding a legit QB to the mix should make his stats even more eye popping this upcoming season.

He's shown to be a solid WR, no doubt. I'm not completely sold on him being a "stud" #1 but I think he can be more than productive. I do wonder sometimes about his speed/acceleration to get open...he certainly doesn't seem have the speed that makes people scared that he will beat you deep.

    The 15+ yds/rec was nice.

Legit #2 receiver, but how long will AJ hold down #1?

That 4.75 - 40 during the combine is what hurt Allen the most. His knee was still rehabilitating yet he still decided to run a 40.

The "off field" issues you speak of were that he was red-flagged at the combine for high levels of water in his system. He never tested positive for any illegal substance in his system.

Regardless, I like Hopkins and believe he can be a big time playmaker for us, even without elite speed. He has size, instincts, and tremendous hands to counter his inability to run a sub 4.4 - 40.

I really like Hopkins, and Dre is still a beast, but we need a burner to open up the defense. At this point Dre is more of a possession guy, which isn't as terrible as some guys make it out to be.

He doesn't even need to be a great receiver, just a deep threat.

If the Texans decide to trade down with a team like the Browns(assuming they think there QB of the future isn't Manziel or Bridgewater), I would like for them to take Watkins. Kid is AJ 2.0. Their next pick in the 1st should be that Clinton-Dix(Alabama) guy/Nix Notre Dame.

Kubiak complained that he could rarely separate from his defender. He's not stud material unlike that incredible one-hand pluck & other pre-season performances led me to think
