Did Yao ever wear "Ming" on the back of his jersey?

    In the preseason of his rookie year, he actually did wear "Ming" on the back of his jersey until he stated that "Yao" is more appropriate to be placed on the back. It was "Yao" when the regular season started, however.

    Yeah I was gonna say, I thought it said Ming - or Yao Ming - for a game or two.

    Don't think he wore this in the games, pretty sure "13 in 33" is correct on it saying just "MING" in the preseason before the correction.

    In asian culture, I think the last name is in front of the first name. The last name isn't considered a last name but a family name.

    That's not Yao's jersey. It was worn by his father George Ming back in the days.

    Yea, in asian countries like Japan, China, and I believe Korea as well its family name first then your own name. Its like family before yourself thing in Asia thats why family name comes first.
