Would love to know how much this costs. I cracked mine two months ago, just a slight crack, but I was thinking about using my insurance and paying $100 through Verizon to get a new one by claiming "water damage".

It'll be around $180-$250 to get it fixed. I had mine cracked for about 3 months as I searched around to find a good price...they're all going to be in that range.

You sure? I thought fixurgadget was like $50? Report the phone stolen, pay the insurance for a new one, then sell the broken phone on eBay. You'll get at least $100 if it's a smartphone, I imagine a cracked Galaxy 4 would go for like $200.

every phone/tablet should be in an otterbox.

They're ugly as hell. Buy a slim, sexy phone and slap on a huge piece of crap around it. Meh.

S3 otterbox was a piece of ****. Worst case I've ever had. It was the Defender Series.

I have one of these urban armor now. Love it. Nice and thin.

I also have a UAG case for mine. Dropped it twice with no ill effect at all.
Thinner cases look better, but I have a hunch offer no protection at all.

There are plenty of $15 fixer-upper kits on Amazon.

Rear panels and batteries and all those single-part kits are not expensive (I just ordered a rear panel from www.ifixit.com, cheap at $15)... but let the experts take apart all the other things to repair a front screen.

I already went by that place, Ziggy, and it SEEMS LEGIT. I was going to recommend that. I'm replacing a front screen for an iPhone 4 for $75 there... much cheaper than buying another.

iPhone screens are very cheap to replace...the S3, for some reason, is in the $200 range. I'd be surprised to find it for lower...I had searched in Houston...In SF (where my wife is from)...and even in Hong Kong (when we were there for the honeymoon).

Same thing with the Nexus 4. Screen cost almost 180 to replace. Easier to get a new phone and sell the cracked one as is.

I have this case as well, dropped my S3 over a handful of times and not a single scratch (or cracked screen for that matter)

Meh, commuter series is too slippery, hate that there is no grip on the back....just smooth white plastic.
