An Aaron brooks, harden, lin, beverly and Parsons small ball lineup? McHale is slobbering.

I do. I consider shooting part of good point guard play. With the way the rockets play, the PG doesn't have to be a great creator. He just needs to be unselfish and be able to run and shoot.

Why pick him up if he can't give you any help in the playoffs?

The cream always rises to the top. Camp is gonna be fun next year.

Welcome back to the most improved player...

Then to the most deteriorated player...

Hopefully he can get the most improved player again...

This "option" (or more likely non-guarantee yr) could make AB a somewhat decent trade asset.

Lets say that AB's projected value if he becomes a FA in the summer is $3M/yr, but if he signs only for the remainder of the yr, all he gets is a prorated vet minimum (not very much since season is near its finish). Because HOU has cap room, they can offer him $2M for the remainder of the season without proration in exchange for him agreeing to a $2M non-guaranteed salary next yr. This way, if he maintains or increases his value, he becomes a decent trade asset since he will be underpaid next season. If he loses value and looks washed up, he does not harm HOU's cap room.

For AB, if the guarantee gets picked up, he gets $4M instead of a projected $3M and change. If it doesn't, he gets $2M in hand plus whatever he cans sign as a FA. You'd think he can get at least the min., if he is that bad, then $2M in hand would definitely be a wise choice.

The math works for both sides.

2.5 mil for the remainder of this year plus a team option next year for another 2.5 mil. Not bad..
