Finally someone speaks up against ESPN, though it will probably stay an isolated incident as he speaks on behalf of the coaches. Let's hope for more backlash against the amateurism from ESPN articles, interviews and shows though with consequently less players giving them exclusives, refusal to talk to 'their' reporters etc. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...carlisle-rips-espn-giving-lavar-ball-platform
he's right, it's standard journalism 101 to obtain 2 sources for something so provacative. but of course, bspn the king of unsubstantiated blowhards just wants hits
Well.. In Europe there are quite many famous fanatical yellow press sports newspapers and thats exactly something that they would do. Quite sad to see Espn fall that low.
Meh.... The job of ESPN is not to support the coaches like Carlisle claims. The reality is that the father of one of the starters on the team is claiming that Walton has lost the locker room. I don't believe that ESPN said Walton lost the locker room, only reporting what Ball said.
Rick Carlisle: "Printing an article where the father of an NBA player has an opinion that's printed as anything like legitimate erodes trust. It erodes the trust that we've built with ESPN. Our coaches are upset because Luke Walton does not deserve that. "
Unfortunately I think a coaches boycott of ESPN will only make their content worse and they'll double down with more lavar and clickbait
Agree with Carlisle. Leave the Lavar Ball hot takes to TMZ Sports. ESPN is a serious sports news organization, they don't need to be reporting on everything that comes out of Lavar Ball's mouth.
Espn needs to generate clicks. Lavar gets them clicks. Coaches like pop act like dicks to reporters and pretty much give them nothing. Espn has got to pay their bills and if people want Lavar then they need to give the people what they want.
http://www.espn.com.au/nba/story/_/...agic-johnson-need-hold-lavar-ball-accountable Espn responds. By trying to shift the blame onto others. Bunch of hypocritical wankers.
They are pandering to the idiots who like Max Kellerman. The current generation of people don't care about credibility. This is MTV's fault for doing real world and teen mom, and all this reality TV stuff exploded so that people who have no talent believe it's their right to be a celebrity or be heard cause these people on Jersey Shore are just as dumb as them In the 90s, if some random dad said he could beat Jordan one on one, the story would never be published.
The more voice/platform you give to the average dumb person...the more you realize how many stupid humans are out there in this world. Just look at this board and some of the stupidity that's said..from trades to overreactions after a loss. Same goes for twitter, facebook, etc. It's not that there are more idiots now, it's just that we hear their opinions more through these various outlets. 30 years ago..you were dumb (or racist) in your own house or within your own circle.
If by current generation, you mean anyone that grew up without the internet, then you’re right. They are the only people still paying for ESPN subscriptions, and unfortunately, being loud and confident is more important than being informed when you are selling to baby boomers.
I wonder what Jeff Van Gundy has to say. He most likely thinks the same thing as his brother but he does work for ESPN, so...
