Don't worry, if we can't make a deal that takes care of the farmers we'll just give them tax dollars from the rest of the country. It's the only way to prevent socialism!
Buy a toaster made in China and support your local do-nothing farmers! Income transfer! Welfare farmers! Farmers, what a bunch of lazy f*cks!
lol...good one tradertexxx! do you not see the irony of "americans for limited government" pimping tariffs, subsidies and protectionist trade policies? there is absolutely nothing fiscally conservative, free market or "limited government" about any of that stuff. on the contrary, these are the tools of BIG government, socialists, communists and bernie sanders...and now donald trump and the republicans. look how much trump has flipped you dotards... the party of morals and family values now sucks up to someone who is on this 3rd marriage, brags about cheating on all his wives and paid off p*rn-stars that he had affairs with. the pro-military party now sucks up to someone who attacks gold star families, lies to troops about pay increases and says POWs are not heroic b/c they were captured. the party of of fiscal responsibility and conservative economic policy now supports protectionist trade policies, farm subsidies and tariffs. the party of reagan is now the pro-russia / pro-autocrat party.
Let me see if I got this straight... - The US puts tariffs on just about everything coming out of China - Those tariffs will, for the most part, get passed on to the people buying the goods...prices go up - In retaliation, China is placing tariffs on US products that they import, such as a huge amount of soybeans - The US then decides to subsidize the farmers with the money brought in with the tariffs. - In response, the President says that US companies should make more here and buy less from China - Buying less from China means less tariffs coming in. - Therefore, there is less money to subsidize the farmers . That about right? I'm no economist so obviously I'm over-simplifying things. Is there something I'm missing? How is this good for the US?
You don’t understand.... it’s bad when Obama put tariffs on Chinese products but good when Trump does it. It’s very simple when you think like simpleton.
Axios: Trump calls trade war "a little squabble with China" https://apple.news/AQgE55EelSKirQyRtYieOHA A different sounding Trump than when he’s at one of his rallies...
Doomed? Nah.... it would have been nice for the GOP to do a 180 on their ideology under Obama so America could invest itself. Obama tariffs are bad. Trump tariffs are good.
Not necessarily. Texas has shown the blue print for green energy, invest in connecting the renewable energy potential to the population centers. I’m just more talking about deficit spending being used to fund a host infrastructure that this country needs. I don’t think relying on the private sector to build out a 5G network before China does is prudent either. Infrastructure just isn’t roads and bridges but can digital and electric.
Why do you revel in your ignorance? I’m hesitant to say you simply lack the intelligence to understand what is going on, but you make it very difficult to not assume that you haven’t the ability to comprehend very simple economics, Cartoon Boy.
I don't understand why this moron thinks we're getting some kind of tariff check from China. What? The President of the United States really doesn't know how tariffs work or he thinks his supporters are so ignorant and gullible that they'll believe anything he says. Unbelievable. Here's a cartoon so you dopey Trump supporters can understand how tariffs work.

Obama also imposed steel tariffs: Bloomberg: Trump Picks Up Baton From Obama in Crushing China Steel Imports
I misunderstood your response, I thought you were talking about the "New Green Deal" for some reason. Obama imposed direct tariffs on solar panels, steel and tires in response to China's dumping along with various broad anti dumping measures. While Solyndra failed, it was in part because the Chinese govt had no problem outspending the US government in assistance. I'd rather the US assist industries like solar over industries like coal at this point in time since renewable energy is only going to increase in our energy profile.
