    Geez Louise....

Hope this doesn't open the door for other teams...namely the Lions.

Just give the guy what he wants. I doubt he wants the farm....

Maybe Mcnair wants Wade to stay and O'Brien wants none of that?

That was my first thought, but I can't imagine that Detroit has that much money, especially given what they still owe Schwartz.

I think McNair knows the Texans are in a strong position. If O'Brien leveraged what the Texans offered into a proposed raise, upgrades, etc. from Penn State, yet still didn't agree to it and ultimately circled back to Houston... I think it's clear his heart is in the NFL.

Seems like the deal will get done, but the Texans don't want to substantially raise their offer if they're bidding against themselves.

Bob didn't get to be a billionaire by not knowing how to negotiate, however, as a Houston fan, I am conditioned to be nervous about this situation.

Considering the Texans have to buyout his Penn State salary, and make it enticing enough for him to leave PSU, he really should feel super excited at a chance to coach in the NFL. The Texans shouldnt budge on any offer at this point. It should be between Detriot and Houston for the NFL gig for O Brien. Considering that Houstonians are diehards for football, Houston should be more appealing. No question that there is much more talent in Detroit, but Houston should be the more stable spot. McNair gives his coaches a lot of time to be successful.

Shouldnt be...Bill has a chance to coach a good NFL team...Houston and Detroit has the best chance to offer him quick success.

There may be some issues in regards to staff, because if an NFL team is buying out the contract, they are gonna be paying you well...

Eh, to me that sounds like he's going but wants people around Penn State to think it was a tough decision. The key thing to remember is O'Brien already put Penn State through this song and dance a year ago, flirting with the Browns and Eagles. If he's doing it again, a year later... it's pretty clear his heart is with the NFL. There's only so many raises you can leverage your way into before you use up all of your capital (unless you're Nick Saban, of course).

Could this all be a cover up by Texans PR to save some face?

By being wishy washy, he's hurting PSU, who would probably love to have their new guy inked by now. No program wants to have their HC courting NFL teams EVERY offseason.

On a side note, Dwight is flying back to LA to reconsider his decision.
