When James and Russ are on the court together and especially finishing games together, James gotta play off ball a lot more. No one is gonna guard russ if he is standing at the three point line. How is this not obvious to them. Yes i know that James is a superior on-ball player to russ but this **** aint gonna work man. With 2018 CP I understood why they played that iso heavy style but Russ is only effective with the ball in his hands. He doesn't cut so he's useless off-ball

    Naw man.

If you take the ball out of Harden's hands down the stretch and hand it over to WB, we will instantly be a threat to miss the playoffs.

I have the opposite philosophy, make WB into a center offensively. Give him Capela's shot selection, tell him to stand baseline when off-ball, restricted to the vast majority of shots within 0-3 feet, with a very occasional mid-range shot (only if WIDE open in the case that the paint is heavily protected. Tell him to focus on D, rebounding, running the court and NOT turning the ball over.

    Make it easy.

trade Brick for Lou, Bev and Harrell.
Clippers Add Harkless to make salary work
Rockets add nene and green to make roster work.

As a result, rockets lose 4 first rounders.

Best way to make this partnership work is Westbrook get in the gym and practice shooting until he can become at least league average.

Its not them though. If we had defense and rebounding we would have fastbreak russ with halfcourt Harden. Now every possesion feels so forced against set d

Harden's passes out the double team are lazy & badly timed. He needs to get that taken care of. How can one drop 50 point games but can't throw a relatively easy pass out the double team?

Russ growing to 6'11 is the way it works, they need a better bench, taller talents.

2 star combo guards is one too many.

WB always needs to be moving instead of standing because his success is from movement don’t take that away from him. Cutting and maybe even sitting a back pick or for Harden. Backside pick and roll as an escape to a doubled Harden. Westbrook plays attacking the basket the goal should be to find ways for him to do that. With and without the ball.

I think that will be the tagline for the Westbrook Era in Houston

Eat at Landry’s and lose at the Nugget!
We need to fill The Tillman’s pockets so he can get Westbrick some real help.
Otherwise we are doomed. 2nd rd fodder.

It can't work without Eric Gordon. It's really the russ, harden, capella, Gordon thats necessary for this offense to work. Without Gordon as a safety valve deep 3 point shooter and third ball handler and playmaker, everyone else is bumped up to positions to do things that they aren't good at.

He's that important to us and we now see why they had to pay him that money.

I think we all just have to be patient and hope that he can come back healthy and that we can somehow add a forward whos great at defense, not just man defense but help defense. Once our initial defense breaks down we are not good at coming from the weakside to help stop easy points.

We just have to wait and hope. It may be next year...

The great thing is that capella is balling and turned from a negative asset to one of the best centers in the league...I believe that in time the chemistry between him and Russ will improve and well see less turnovers from Russ trying to lob that ball for a dunk.

You all call him a third playmaker, yet I have seldomly seen him make plays.

    Agree with his other abilities.

If the solution is to take the ball away from one of the best offensive players in NBA history, then you’ve already admitted that the partnership doesn’t work.

2 points let westbrooks to shoot.
3 points let other 3 pointers to shoot.
Important ball let Harden to shoot as he can draw foul

All the ball pass to the most accuracy players to shoot 1st at that day.

Clemons is short, we must let him shoot

Yea mainly the ball handling, but with just his threat as a shooter, someone has to guard him, which can lead to someone else being wide open after the rotation....that kind of playmaking

True, yet I see his touches gradually decreasing......with guys like House, Rivers taking more shots, and Russell thinking he is the 2nd option, taking most of the shots.

the partnership already doesn't work, the second you tell someone to take the ball out of harden's hands and put it into a worse player

Best way to make this work is to limit the time they share the court. Russ becomes the 6th man and leads the 2nd unit.

In other words: Westbrook needs more help.

    Great insight! :D
