I don't know if that sentiment is true. #1 if they scout well they should add at least 4 high level contributors. They invested in TE's last year and they should be moving up the learning curve. Rankin should be a real contributor this year, Davenport too unless he 's just uncoachable because he has the physical attributes, Henderson should be fine on the right if he's healthy. The front 7 is set, the top 3 receiving corp is set. You have a QB and an RB prospect. You almost netted even on the DB's and you know you are going to draft a top 50 CB. Free Agency has just be moving around the deck chairs for most teams anyway, only The Browns and Raiders are significantly better.
If we don't use top 3 picks on a edge rusher, then I don't think we would draft a LB. Since Johnson Bademosi will be in 46-man roster, and Jermaine Kelly Jr. was drafted last year, plus possible starters: jjo, ac, roby, bbc, I don't think draft 2 CB. So by now, our draft needs are 0-1 QB 0-1 RB 0-1 TE 0-1 WR 1-2 OL 0-1 DL 0-1 SS 1-1 CB
Rosy outlook Davenport doesn't have the attributes to be a starting LT in the NFL. He's weak and has slow feet. The only thing he has is long arms.
Sounds crazy but wouldn't be all that surprised if we got an edge rusher first if a premium player fell. Gaine went for the ultra value pick in Reid last year which worked out beautifully. I'm still hoping one of Dillard, Taylor, Williams, Ford is available though.
Can't let Sweat fall to Indy. Gaine will pick him if he has to, deal with the fallout of having a subpar secondary and OL in rounds 2-4. Imagine a line where you could rotate around Clowney, Watt, Mercilus, and Sweat.
Damn. I was hoping he might be around as a developmental guy in the second round. Maybe he could sit behind Penn if the Texans sign him. But it looks like his athleticism and measurables will make him a top 50 guy.
