He resigned Brewer and Bev to very reasonable contracts. I wouldn't say he's sitting on his ass. Smith is a waiting game. If he was willing to re-up for the 2 1/2 mil the Rockets can offer, it would've happened already. I imagine he and McDaniels are seeing what's available. As far as trades, once the free agent dust settles and we know who we've resigned, then Morey can make the necessary move(s) to fill out the roster.
By then the Spurs will be making another move to get better. We screwed. Lat season is the furthest we will go for a long time.
You never know what could happen. LMA could suffer a career ending injury. Curry could choke on his mouthpiece and die. You know like this season when the Warriors opponents had significant injuries the entire playoffs.
The Spurs can't make anymore moves. They're capped out. The only way they add another significant piece to that roster is if they find someone else like West who'll play for almost nothing. And if that happens, I'm gonna really start to wonder what kind of under the table promises Pop and Buford have made.
Can't panic just yet - few would have predicted the leap Dmo made from last season to this - hell he was in the summer league last year. Nobody thought Capela would be as good as he was this quickly either. Most of our moves last year happened mid-season anyways (Brewer, Smith, Prigs) Gotta keep remembering the Dwight/Kobe/Nash/Gasol Lakers - lots of talent doesn't always pan out into a team...granted a Pop led team it's hard to see how it doesn't happen but who knows.
Seriously, it's just weird. A team with no interior defense off the bench signs a guy who is terrible defensively, is 35 years old, who derives a ton of his offense from cucking long 2's yet can't shoot 3's.....and everyone acts like the world is coming to it's end.
a 35 year old West who is awful, a 39 year old Timmay, and a 30 year old LMA. Not the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination.
