i don't know about his work ethic but his coaches rave about it. My thinking has always been if chuck hayes can learn how to make a shot, anyone that works hard at it can too. the downside to that line of thinking is, by the times he learns his contract will have a year left only. =( Anyways, he was brought here to stop back up point guards walking the lane to score career highs on us.
After having to deal with watching patterson and his weak floaters last year I can't wait to have a big man that finishes with power..
I think its fine. He hangs on the rim for barely a second then instantly runs back on defense. On the Parsons dunk, Mcgee was like "Get your balls out of my facee! Get it oouut!!!"
kinda looks like the big big man dunk..... and I dont think that split second is gonna prove defenseless, if it does, we have bigger issues then him dunking....
OP has been a member 10 years. He has decided to make his voice heard 4 times and this worried him enough to go for the big 5. You would hope someone that has apparently been watching basketball for at least 10 years would be able to tell the difference between hanging on the room an inordinate amount of time and not getting back on D versus lifting his legs while dunking and then running the floor back (which he did...every. single. time.). Seemed like it was working out, not a lot of people want to get a 7 footers knee in their neck....thus....less shot block attempts. Yeah bro....cause you should always jump as high as you can to dunk the ball. Not just enough to get the ball in the hoop. Go watch some VC dunk competitions and quit watching basketball.
Omer Asik has great work ethic. Listen to D.Rose at the 0:27-0:37 mark of the video below for proof <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9ouOrrYvvfE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I didn't see where he had to rush to get back on defense... Like one of the posters mentioned above, that's a good strategy.
So basically we got a center who likes to dunk but has no shot. Sounds like a taller Chuck Hayes with less offensive game.
Fair enough, I just don't see anyone doing this in the league. The only time is when there's congestion on the floor and someone hangs on the rim because there's actually someone under them. It reminds me of Karl Malone sticking out his leg everytime he shot a jumpshot. Maybe it's a good strategy and all, but it's kinda lame. Then again, so is flopping, which is a far bigger problem in this league... Thanks for all the heavy computations by a few of you, obviously I wasn't worried about losing 6 seconds of his time on defense. I was worried more about a personality trait that would cause him to dunk like this every time. I don't care about the 6 seconds, but I care about his character, work ethic. Many of you addressed that and said he has a reputation of being a hard worker... That works for me. Lastly... Seriously? Grow up. I've been on this board for a long time as you noticed, I just choose not to post all the time. You're the one who actually took the time to look at my posting history. Please...
it sends a strong message to the opponent. Plus, he looked to hustle back on defense after every play. Maybe he loses .5 seconds lol
Hey a big man who can finish in traffic! When's the last time we had one of those? This guy's gonna be great and will only get better.
Exactly...Patrick Ewing did the same thing. Said he did it so everyone would clear out and give him room the next time he dunked.
He needs to be banned from the NBA immediatly. Who the hell does he think he is, an NBA player or something?
