Try Belle Meade....pretty damn good! Woodford Reserve is damn good as well. Not a fan of the their double oak however.
I curse a lot and one of the good ones is 'Well, by Pappy Van Winkle's ******* Ghost!' I love threads with no context.
I'm relatively new to bourbon...having just got into it back in December when I was accidentally given a Blanton's at a bar. Tried it and fell in love. Haven't had any Pappy's, yet. Currently enjoying a nice bottle of Heaven's Hill B-I-B. My favorite's so far are Eagle Rare (when I can find it), Blanton's (lol at finding it), Blade & Bow, 4 Roses Select Barrel, Basil Hayden's is a nice inexpensive go-to, Angel's Envy, and a couple others I'm spacing on right now. I'm in a facebook group called Texas Bourbon Finders. Seems like we get hosed in Houston as compared to other parts of the state when it comes to some of the popular rare finds.
About 2 hours north of Houston, in Nacogdoches. Thats odd, I just checked both of them and they dont. Hmmm. I have no clue. I would suggest to stop into a neighborhood mom and pop and see if they carry or could carry for you.
Yeah, I think it's 60/40 mix to match the alcohol percentage of a pappy. I have nothing to base it against taste wise, but it's supposed to taste like lot B.
Any body like dom perignon ? how about macallan 30? who loves super hot chicks that are into you? this may be one of the worst threads I’ve ever seen here. And that includes what’s stuff
I cant consider it a "poormans" anything anymore since both are hard to find and getting upcharged like no other.
Someday when we can have fun weekends and whatnot, I highly recommend the tour and then the bottling shift at Garrison Bros. I've been to several in other states, this is the best one outside of KY
Have you tried any of the Ironroot stuff? They're out of Denison. Their Harbinger won some serious awards. Haven't come across that one yet. I have a bottle of their Promethean. Not crazy about it but it's grown on me some. My buddy and I have been on the hunt. He finally scored from the Spec's in Willis. He was on their wait list for almost a year. I have about a 15 month wait at the central Woodlands location.
Did this a couple of years ago, it was great. That was definitely a gateway into trying different whiskeys. Still want to go to Balcones one of these days.
Very good. It started out a little too oaky for me but really opened up and became a really nice one. You should try old Ezra and some Larceny barrel proof.
These four in no particular order I always have on hand. The Evan Williams is about $25 bucks so its always in rotation. Angels Envy Jim Beam Double Oak Larceny Evan Williams Small Batch 1783 I have been meaning to try Garage Oil Whiskey. Its produced in the Austin area. http://garageoilspirits.com/home/
