There are different size bike frames depending on your height inseam and such. You will find much more enjoyment if you get a bike that is fitted to your body.
check the thrift shops. My brother in-law recently dropped off their kids bikes, got them some bigger ones, and got him one as well. 3 bikes for $40.
That sounds expensive to have a frame fitted a regular adult frame should be fine for what I want to do.
Thanks for that just like the laptop I need to complete a deep dive, this is frame size right? How does raising the seat factor into that?
A lot is personal preference -- I'm 6' 2" but prefer a smaller frame 16/17" to allow a more upright riding position. An 18" frame is the max I would go -- 19"+ frames are tall IMO and look awkward.
I am 6'3" so 18 should be ok just need to decide how much I want to spend and will I actually use the bike that much.
Jigg, be aware that different manufacturers measure frame sizes differently, so be sure to know what you're looking at especially if you're ordering something sight unseen. I'm 6'0" and have a Trek bike that has two frame sizes, a virtual one and an "actual" one. Not sure what the difference is but I can't imagine going any smaller than what I have. I ride with my seat way up high. here's a web page on bike sizing: https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/bu...ke-frame-our-complete-guide-to-sizing-a-bike/
I'm 6'0 and I am on a large frame and it felt weird at first but its really comfortable much more so than the old walmart mongoose mountain bike i used to have, You should have a slight bend in your knee on the downstroke when you are pedaling and the seat should be at the top of your hip when you stand next to the bike.
God damn not even my parents have ever said something so nice to me. Os out here touching hearts and warmig souls. Who is this loving man behind the links?
Not too good I had gear problems problems with components coming loose and the wheels rusted in a short time. If you do get a walmart or academy bike check it out because those store are notorious for have ass putting their bikes together and sometimes putting parts that go on a different bike.
Yeah, most of the criticism seems to be from the assembly, will probably have a pro do it and upgrade as needed. Have not looked ar academy.
I m 6’ even and have a specialized mountain bike and it is slightly too big for me. Just slightly. Size is important, I’ve still had the bike for years and love it.
