It shouldnt take a genius to know the ball is on Harden/WB's hands. Harden was already posting monster nos during Mchale's time as a coach cuz guess what, the ball was also in Harden's hands most of the time. MDA is a decent coach but he is only above average in today's NBA, lots of young coaches take a dump on him regularly starting with Kerr, Brad Stevens, Spoelstra, Nick Nurse and Budenholzer. If you add his old gen rivals who have always been superior to him in Popovich and Carlisle then at the very best MDA is the 8th best coach in the league. If we only had the 8th best player in the league nobody would have champ aspirations but somehow it is ok to have the 8th best coach. Even when MDA had the most talented team in the NBA the PHX Suns and 8 years to do it he couldnt get it done...couldnt even get to the Finals even when his own team has the talent edge. Thats why when you try to credit MDA for the team performance I can only laugh cuz thats not MDA, that is James Harden and analytics. If we never fired Mchale but brought in Capela, Ariza, Cp3 and PJ Tucker to replace Dwight, Portions, Beverly and Josh Smith we would've still been the 2nd best team during GSW era. The Rox can still win a ring but it is all gonna be up to Harden to hard carry everyone just like Lebron carried Tyronn Lue to a ring.
IMO, championship teams are how well the role players blend with their superstars. Role players are the difference even with generational players like Harden and James. A coach’s job is blend the team’s talents for a chance to win not run a system then make adjustments a few games later. Basketball is a team sport no player no matter their skill set can win without the help of their teammates in a professional settings.
Don't blame D'Antoni on this. Cheap Ownership that didn't go over the tax to keep Ariza... Forcing a trade for Westbrook? This is the Melo to Knicks trade all over again but worse. Morey is the GM for a respected GM for a reason. Let D'Antoni and Morey make the decisions not a f***n Frittata. F* you Tillman! F* YOU!
Do it yesterday. Fire the clown already. Mike: It started last night, gas got low & didn't re-fill our tanks. Didn't play hard enough. Didn't match their playoff intensity. Came out and punched us and kept punching us and we just took it. There will be days like that. 4-day layoff? Sure we can blame it on that but doesn't change anything. We didn't play well. Got a game Saturday at 4 o'clock. This is the tough part of the schedule. Got a couple guys banged up but we'll be alright. We'll just get through it. It's part of the NBA. We'll have to work through it. Harden had that dominant first quarter but struggled since... Ran out of gas. He's out of rhythm. If you got a list of worries, he's my least worry. He'll be fine.
a loss like this one, once fall behind to okc 20pts+, and MDA did nothing, that's not better than a game w/o coach in league history, not all championship team got a GOAT kinda player who can either take over games and control rhythm of games, like MJ, KB, LBJ, but at least they got a great coach who could do every little things to impact his players within his plan.
seriously, tyronn lue (i know he is the assistant coach to doc), stan Van Gundy, tom thibodeau, or other caliber but just do something before he let go a collapse in any key post-season games.
If Ty Lue was any good, why aren't any of the bottom dwellers hiring him? We had Nurse in our grasp who was immersed in the Moreyball analytics, and we let him go. Anyone on Budenholzers or Pop's staff that are any good? We need up and comes not retreads. Still want Darren Erman to coach defense for Rockets, weird guy but he knows his biznatch when it comes to D. And players love love love playing for him.
if the 3s aren't falling, pringles doesn't even have a Plan 1A and thanks to tilman sterling furrtitta, aside from lucas, the rest of our coaching staff is a fuking joke as well again, we will never win a title with these clowns
