He was voted 5th for the defensive player of year award last season.

Skal Labissier is a realistic get that works with our cap situation. We could trade for Hartenstein and Clark for him and that saves us like 500k. Dude is career underachiever so far but maybe MDA this system can get the most out of him.

What do we get- more athletic, more versatility, he can shoot the 3, he can put the ball on the floor, he's useful in our system,

What does POR get- 2 for 1 players including young bigs which help their injury situation.

    What say you?

Kinda shocked about this cause everytime i see him play i don't really get the feeling he's such a good defender, i wonder if he got 5th because he led the league in blocked shots, cause that doesn't exactly mean a player is a great defender.

He's a positive net defender but he's just someone who gets overrated in DPoY voting. Similar to how DeAndre Jordan was consistently being overrated on defense because of stats. The fact that PJ has never really sniffed the award or even made a second team all defense in his career, yet Bev has made first team tells you everything you need to know about the voting. I love Pat but his defense is nowhere near what Ariza or Tucker brought to our defense these past few years.

Who's the poster who always posts Aaron Gordon trade proposals? :D

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/11/charanias-latest-gordon-baynes-turner-wiseman.html
    • Multiple teams are monitoring Magic forward Aaron Gordon and would have interest if he becomes available, league sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic. However, according to Charania, Orlando has shown no interest in trading Gordon. The fourth overall pick in the 2014 draft, Gordon has flashed tantalizing potential as a two-way impact player and is still just 24 years old. He’s also on a team-friendly contract, which is worth $19.86MM this season and declines all the way to $16.41MM in 2021/22. As such, it makes sense that he’d generate interest around the league and that the Magic wouldn’t want to move on from him, despite the fact that he hasn’t necessarily put it all together yet.
    • Some potential contenders – such as the Lakers – were hoping that the Suns viewed Aron Baynes as a salary dump when they acquired him on draft night and would eventually buy him out, Charania writes. Instead, the veteran center has emerged as a key part of Phoenix’s lineup. Baynes is on an expiring contract and one team executive believes the big man is “positioning himself for well over $10MM per year,” as Charania relays.

Anyone else like me hoping that Trevor Ariza would come available on the buyout market? Right now there are zero teams in the West that are tanking, so just by virtue of injuries and attrition, some teams are gonna be forced to tank by the all-star break. My money's on Sacramento, where Trevor is useless if they're not at least on the playoff bubble.

    It will happen. :D

Magic desperate for offense, have already inquired about DeRozan.

3 team trade with BOS sending Hayward to Magic with Capela to Celts is win-win for all 3 teams with no FRP required.

HOU: Aaron Gordon, Lob Williams, Wes Iwundu, Javonte Green

    ORL: Gordon Hayward, Gary Clark

BOS: Clint Capela, Ben McLemore, Isaiah Hartenstein

McLemore should not be starting. He’s trash defensively.

For sure 5 for 1 trades are not likely to happen, but in this case wouldn’t any team receiving Nene and GG automatically cut them. I know it would cost them money but by February wouldn’t there be a lot less to pay them? I’m obviously assuming that any trade would be packaged with a pick so that’s the incentive to not care about that money. Clark or Isaiah should be pretty easy to re-route to another team.

Either way it seems like a valuable trade is impossible.
Markieff Morris is probably what we’d end up with. He did very little for OKC last year, nothing to get excited about but better than nothing I guess. He’s doing ok on spot up shooting but that’s based on a small sample size.
Nene + Clark or a second rounder as long as Detroit keeps sucking oughta do it

Would also take Aminu if not AG.

Aminu just had double double vs. Spurs.

Yes they would probably cut them BUT they would have to have open roster spots to complete the trade - then cut them or buy out (Nene, GG).

You must have an open roster spot for each incoming player in a trade. Cant cut them before they land on the roster ….

Ahhh. Thanks for clarifying. For some reason I thought you were allowed to obtain more players than allowed on a roster in a trade as long as you rectify the situation (cutting players) in a specific amount of time (soon after).

Rockets are playing Mclemore and Rivers to up their trade value for the eventual wing we'll trade for.

Nope , that's why I stated the need for open roster spots on the receiving team(s) to begin with and Bima emphasized it as well.
That type of deal can be done , but it would more likely than not require multiple teams.

They aint trading Rivers - not after he left money on the table to stay here this offseason.
