There have been reports that the Celtics have had trade talks with the Rockets about their talented young center, Clint Capela, who has four years left on his five-year, $90 million deal. A league source said Saturday that the Celtics are intrigued by Capela, but that the sides have not had any trade talks and that a deal for Capela is unlikely because Boston would not have interest in surrendering the players needed to complete the trade.

Are the Celtics ever interested in surrending assets unless they are the clear cut winner? Lol. Danny Ainge can go to hell with all his ****ing assets.

I checked out the Celtics blog and all the quotes sounded like they were pumping up every guy they had in summer league, that they’d drafted at some point, or who played for them last year, even end of the bench guys. Sounds like they’re still hoping to deal. That’s purely my opinion. Just read that way to me. Probably BS from whoever does the blog.

One of those ORL PFs will become available. If not AG, will take Aminu, Isaac or Chuma.

As Clutch mentioned a few weeks ago, maybe we had something for their 22nd pick if Clarke is on the board. Clarke was Summer League MVP and looks like he can do a bit of everything. Maybe some sort of 3 way with Clarke and a more traditional center or picks coming back our way. Morey invented the double sided protection with the Lowry trade, so him having an elaborate trade set up contingent on Clarke's availability wouldn't shock me. If so, he missed out by one pick. Might be too early to say, but Clarke looked NBA ready when he dominated Summer League. He might have been Morey's analytic sleeper.

Yeah, seems like Clarke would've been a nice fit here, stretch 4 who can rebound and play defense, can score a bit...

As for the Celtics i'm pretty sure they're not set at center, but they know a guy like Adams is available (although it would cost them Hayward to match the salary), and Robert Williams showed some flashes in summer league so, all things considered i don't think we'll see a Capela trade to Boston at this point.

Ainge has always been hell to deal with, at least it’s been my impression for years. Always hesitant to put in that one aspect of a potential deal that could make it happen, something that looks like a reasonable addition from the outside. You would think that Morey’s history with Boston could come into play there. With someone other than Ainge running things, it’d be more likely, in my opinion.

Boston has some nice young talent along with a mix of expensive vets they’re hesitant to pay. it’s how they lost Horford. Tough to deal with for agents as well as other teams. I think it hurts them sometimes. Wouldn’t think that so much if they had better success in the playoffs. The record and playoff success being the ultimate yardstick.

If their eye is so much on the bottom line, I can see where Capela’s young talent as a 5, still developing, still with some of the “P” word, on a value contract would be appealing to them. Will they unbend and make a deal that’s fair for both sides? Doesn’t look like it. Heck, I’d be shy about dealing Clint anyway, despite the low opinion of him in certain quarters here. Along with EG, he’s probably our most appealing asset (there’s that word again). Nothing new there, and it’s been discussed extensively at CF’s. I wonder if Morey ever worked the phones with Boston during the Westbrook deal? Probably, and was shot down from both ends. Ours (the owner) and Boston (Ainge). Pure guess on my part.

Yeah, maybe there were other details not reported, but with Boston under the cap at the time, it seemed like we would have net a player Morey wanted in the draft as well as cut salary (the Tilman special).

Either Simmons or Mannix brought up Boston going after CC on his podcast yesterday.

It was Mannix and before we kill Simmons and Mannix, they mentioned if things in Houston turned out to be a disaster, they could see Capela as the trade chip

This trade works right now. Would you do it? Would you throw in a 1st to entice OKC. I would.

I wouldn't, we're trading more talent and better contracts here, going 10M in the tax too...why would we even put a 1st round pick? That would be a terrible trade made just for the sake of making one.
