The appearance part actually doesn't bother me, she just looks like a 60 year old woman to me.

The shaking part is legitimate and it makes her not come off as herself, but wooden and nervous.

Some people get over that. Elizabeth Warren had that same issue and she has gotten better about it..... even John McCain and Bush Sr. had it.

Having said that..... she isn't going to break out this year.... the over reaction to the reports of her being "mean" in hindsight really hurt her.

Don't give a flip whether big Democratic donors are happy with the choices or not. Our interests don't align that much. While the various candidates may have this or that weakness, I'd take almost any of them for president.

They count on moderates having a short memory. Just remind them how Republicans turned a moderate Obama into a communist, socialist, crazy left fringe, foreign agent trying to destroy America from within.

He has a point but...Warren was never going to win Trump voters, I doubt Klobuchar will, or any democrat will. I'm not sure why anyone thinks Klobuchar can do what Clinton could not.

I mean, Clinton was not a perfect candidate, but she had more Charisma than Klobuchar does.

I don't think winning Trump voters over is a good democratic strategy and I don't think many of the true swing voters will turn out to vote for Trump. I bet many just sit home and not vote at all...he's not polling well with independents.

I only refer to the ACTUAL swing voters...not the Trump voters that say they are 'moderate' but side with him 99% of the time.

But yeah, I don't think a Democratic nominee would do well abandoning their base to court Trump voters.

Sure - look at the chart in there:

    https://www.census.gov/content/dam/...ions/2017/comm/voting-rates-race-hispanic.jpg

It shows black turnout at equal or higher rates than 1980-2004. It certainly wasn't as high as when Obama was on the ticket as the first black President ever, but that's not a reasonable standard. This year, black turnout won't be as high as Obama either and candidates shouldn't expect that.

Turnout was down among AA voters and that correlated with her losing both Michigan and Wisconsin.

Those are the easiest voters to get back on board IMO.

Turnout in 2008 and 2012 was at record highs due to Obama - that's not going to be easy to get back on board. Beyond that, black turnout in 2016 was higher than or equal to 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004. Dems won the midwest in all the recent elections with those lower levels of turnout. The reason she lost Michigan and Wisconsin is that white voters who previously voted Democratic went with Trump, likely largely due to a dislike of Hillary.

The black voter turnout rate declined for the first time in 20 years in a presidential election, falling to 59.6% in 2016 after reaching a record-high 66.6% in 2012.

Yes, I already covered that. 2008 and 2012 HAD OBAMA AND GENERATED RECORD HIGHS. Of course it went down. Dems were winning the midwest before Obama, though.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...home-in-2016-more-than-a-third-of-them-black/

2016 was an election cycle in which Trump’s margin of victory was one of the narrowest in U.S. history. It came down to about 78,000 votes in three states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It’s hard not to wonder, then, how the decrease in turnout among black voters might have affected the outcome. In Michigan, where 14 percent of residents are black, Trump won by 10,704 votes of 4.8 million cast. In Pennsylvania, he won by 44,000 of 6.2 million cast — with blacks making up more than a tenth of the population. Clinton wins those states, and the 2016 race is essentially a tie.

I think it's high time to stop putting the burden on black voters to save the Democratic Party from its past shitty campaigning.

Black voter turnout had been rising every year since Clinton this was the 1st time it dropped.

Its has more to do than just Obama not being on the ballot.

    Who is doing that?

And is shitty campaigning worst than having Trump in office?

    Why are you so angry?

The NY Times hit pieces on her last February were definitely damaging. Fortunately, nobody cares about that now (nor should they; they were total BS).

She’s not done yet. She’s seen a modest boost since last week’s debate and just qualified for the November debate. It’s a long-shot, of course, but she can afford to wait this out .
