Wouldn't be surprised to see him waived and signed a third time, much like Nene. It's still kind of feels like a charity with veterans.
^ I spent time this morning trying to find Ryan Anderson interviews and couldn't find a single one, so I appreciate you posting those, YOLO. I did manage to find a neat little bit of trivia about Mr. Anderson: "Anderson has the third-most made three-pointers of any player listed at 6-foot-10 or taller in NBA history." https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...s-endorse-return-of-ryan-anderson-to-rockets/
Russ/Rivers Beard/Gordon/Green Gordon/House/Thabo PJ/Thabo/Ryno Clint/Chandler/PJ/Ryno Gary Clark could get Ryno's minutes if he isn't ready. McLemore is challenging for Green's minutes. At least this is how I see it. I'm eager to see which unit MDA uses to start second and fourth quarters with. Russ Rivers House Thabo Chandler/Ryno That's my first guess. At first glance this unit is pretty impressive defensively. They should also be able to control the defensive boards. Offensively they may be inconsistent but that's ok if we are playing solid defense. I kind of like this mix of younger more athletic guys at the 1,2 & 3 with older vets at the 4/5. Thabo and Chandler are old but they know how to play. They box out and don't miss defensive assignments. I also like that these are all guys that MDA should be able to trust during the playoffs. This should be fun.
Thabo played a lot of 2 - shooting guard in his career, I am not sure putting him at 4 would do enough good. Maybe they only focus on gambling and stealing the ball.
Thabo has been playing some of his most effective basketball at the 4 the past couple of seasons. I think Thabo, Ryno and possibly Bennett will split time at the 4 depending on matchup. Below is how I have the depth chart and basic minutes breakdown. Westbrook 35 Rivers 13 Harden 35 Rivers 13 Green Gordon 30 House 18 Clark PJ 30 Thabo 18 Ryno Bennett Capela 30 Chandler 18 Hartenstein Nene Rivers get all of the back up Guard minutes for now. 18 mpg is probably too much for Chandler but I didn’t feel like giving 3-6 minutes to someone else in my breakdown bc those minutes could go to a number of players.
Can't argue with that until I see it with own eyes, but thanks for mentioning it. I feel Capela has to step up with the minutes, he is the youngest, I know he takes a lot of beating but still. You know funny thing is, Anthony Bennett thought he might get a chance. Now he got those guys plus Ryno ahead of him, how does dat make him feel?
He played a good amount of minutes at the 3/4 for Utah and he was pretty effective. He Defended and rebounded pretty well. I may have to dig up his stats at the 4 but I believe his numbers were solid across the board. He is undersized but he makes up for it with his technique. He boxes out about as well as Ariza did. The Clippers plan on starting Kawhi and PG at at the 3 & 4. With our roster I think he’s best suited for these type of matchups vs having him primarily chasing around 2’s at his age. PJ and Clint need all of the help they can get vs the other front courts in the west this year.
Everyone benefitted from playing alongside the Defensive presence that is Rudy Gobert. The latter also did lead his team in the FIBA WC. Sure his weakness is a Houston team. Think the question is not if he can or not, it is whether it is a strength or not.
I hope Bennett feels like he has to work his ace off so he can earn his spot. Nothing given on team contending for ring.
I never expected to see him come back here. Funny thing is, I never expected to get a little excited about it either.
It says alot about the Rockets organization that a player like Ryan Anderson who was traded from us and was in constant trade rumors is willing to come back to us for the min.
