Part of it was the lack of drama (other than the walks). We had a commanding lead the whole game, and I frankly don’t even remember many hard hit balls. I saw that the highest probability hit was some weak chopper that had a chance to become an infield hit. Most no hitters have at least a couple noteworthy defensive plays to preserve it... this one was boring in that respect. ETA: You’re the Mariners... you just got no-hit. You look up, and you get to face Verlander the next day. LOL.
I was there and I completely agree. Outside of the offense, there was no big play to keep things going. The crowd as a whole was pretty quiet most of the night. The M’s are barely a major league team right now. I’m not sure many people realized it was a no-hitter until very late. My wife and kids didn’t understand why I wouldn’t leave early in a 9-0 game. I did my duty and would not say it out loud. I’ve never seen a no-hitter live, so that was awesome. With my seats way up high, I couldn’t really tell much of what Sanchez was doing. How did it look on tv?
That depends on Chirinos’ shoulder. If he has to go on the DL, they can bring Straw back regardless of the 10 days.
He looked filthy on TV with the curve ball. He was hitting the top corners in the zone with the 4 seam fastball but he was also yanking it and spraying it a little. This shouldn’t be news but he doesn’t scream- big time command guy- to me at least. So far, obviously so good. I could totally see him being a high beta guy with good stuff and so so command. The fact that we got him and 2 friends for Fisher bc Toronto isn’t smart enough to tell him to stop throwing his worst pitch, similar to Cole with Pittsburg, amuses me to no end.
Wow!!! Today the Astros are -435 on the bet site I look at. That has to be an Astros record for a single game.
RL is -200 lol, Verlander vs bullpen game I think. I'm trying to force some action but cannot touch that juice, maybe a small play on team total and hope Reddick is not completely worthless/snaps out of his funk!
