Exactly. That's the most damning comment I've ever seen. Some bad shooters at least try. He does not appear to have the stomach to try. It is extremely weird for a perimeter player in this era to not even dare to attempt a 3 after two full seasons as a starter.

Or maybe he should just switch to playing PF/center and call it a career. Sort of like Draymond.

Well, Simmons got 7 years to catch up to Green's 0.96 PPP as Green is 29.

 

And the countdown to when he wants out of Philly and on to the Lakers starts now.

Ben Simmons will end up being worth every cent of that deal and more.

He's got some Magic and a little Elgin Baylor in him.

Ben will be better than any of these young guys out there today.

Hinkie had everybody on cheap contracts back in the day. It would be stupid if ownership allowed all the tanking to happen just to chicken out when the time came to pay everybody. Paying Tobias and Horford was really stupid in my opinion, but I guess they are all in.

 

Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons, yikes. They have Washington Wizards written all over then.

I bet he could shoot 3s at Westbrook's level. If he took 4 threes a game and hit 1 I wonder if the perception of this contract would be different.

 

Even without a shot Simmons is an efficient scorer, playmaker, rebounder and flexible defender. Unlike some god awful shooters, at least he's self aware.Granted, if he doesn't develop an outside threat at some point he will never be worthy of this salary. There are questions about his work ethic, and that would scare me more than anything. He may simply not want to improve.

Tobias Harris is complete empty calories, and still a far worse contract.

 

So Simmons is wine that needs to be aged and Harris is beer?

 

it probably would but Simmons would rather remove all doubt about his shooting that he really can't than to entertain the idea of helping his team by actually, y'know, be someone defenses can't sag off of.
