I wonder if Kawhi would have still gone to the Clippers if Daryl wouldn’t have bolstered their bench so much!

If they resign Shumpert for 13+ million to use as a trade chip or sign and trade him and I'll happily acknowledge that my entire premise was incorrect.

If they stand pat and only sign vet minimums and wait for the trade deadline for more buyout candidates, it'll be as I feared...

I'm hoping you're right and the Rockets trade for Iggy or someone similar... because that'll make the already crazy 2019-2020 season even more unpredictable lol.

McGee is going back with the lakers. So we could get iguadala. Hopefully Kawhi decision help us :p get him or we still could get Avery Bradley after he was bought out or J Green

I really have no idea if they are gonna go the route I mention. It just made the most sense to me as you get a quality wing , still have your MLE and aren't hard capped in case you have to move EG later in the year.

Its all predicated on retaining Shumpert while avoiding his BYC (Under 13.2) and having him agree to be traded (why not for a few million).

I was discussing it with Bima in another thread and he said the same - he expects them to retain him but the question is "how much."

When the idea of a deal with Memphis for Iggy came about , it only made sense to use to use Shumpert. Here's why.

In all likelihood Iggy gets bought out and then picks his place. His actual salary is 17m , it takes about 12.75m in outgoing salary to make the numbers match.
If Memphis is going to buy out Iggy at 17 why not get an asset and buy out Shump at 12.75 and save a pile of cash in the process.

All trash....Vegas no longer has us as a top 4 team in the West. Window has officially closed. Sad night overall with the death of Lloyd.

Vegas didn’t get right that the Lakers would suck last season or that the raptors would win it. So I don’t care what the odds say until I see how every team plays. We don’t even know how they will play. They look good but even then we have a very good team. We gave the warriors a run for their money and they had how many super stars or stars.
I don’t see any of the Lakers or Clippers being better than what the warriors were. Only reason the warriors lost was because the injury bug finally got them. But with Durant and Klay healthy the Raptors would have lost. Just as we would have won if Cp3 had stayed healthy last season or if this season he and Capela hadn’t played like trash

So since McGee is going back to the Lakers who is going to be our back up center?

Where are you getting your odds? Everything I’ve seen has Rockets third in west after the two LA teams. The GS and Jazz. Two east teams higher also (Bucks, 76ers).

Right. Iggy is the missing piece to a championship. Screw the Clippers, Lakers, Blazers, Jazz and Nuggets. Harden will have no problem getting through the defense of the Clippers with Kawhi, PG, and Bev.

This also drops the Rockets, a team that lives to aggressively chase change, going from run it back to running in place, unaltered from last season while others have become the Western Conference favorites general manager Daryl Morey declared his team to be less than two weeks ago.

As for the Rockets, they went into free agency hoping to pull off a massive sign-and-trade move for Jimmy Butler and failing that, planning to chase Danny Green. Butler opted for the Heat and Green had offers far larger than the Rockets could match, choosing the Lakers, where he fits perfectly with James and Anthony Davis.

While the Lakers moved quickly to grab Green, they also brought back center JaVale McGee, whom the Rockets hoped to make their backup center. The Rockets can still seek a deal with Memphis for former Warriors forward Andre Iguodala, a step forward that would solidify their rotation, but more than ever will have to maintain flexibility for the next move whenever it might come.

The Rockets are still in the Western Conference mix, but they have one All-Star, Harden. The Clippers and Lakers each have two MVP-caliber talents while the Nuggets and Jazz are deep and loaded.

Even if nothing happens, at least the West will be extremely interesting to watch next season.

That’s all we got left. Unless Morey pulls something out of his ass that none of us expected. Last year what he pulled out of his ass was what we did, indeed, expect: s***.
