    Okay,

    I'm anti- this.

Not worth hard-capping in a SNT. Not worth losing Capela and Gordon or even CP3. No opt-in and trade, no thanks.

Losing Capela and Gordon is worth it.

When the rockets strike out on their plans this summer, I expect James to demand a trade. I would prefer we get out in front of it now.

    Let the Jimmy Games begin.....

Feigen is roughly breaking any news.

If they lose Gordon and Capela over this, the team is getting top heavy.

The slightest locker room issue, and it might be over.

If we get him it’ll be an opt and trade. This talk is to gain some leverage. We basically got a week, and I doubt we are able to get him. We may have a trade set up for Paul/Gordon taking back very little salary that we will pull if Butler is an actual free agent.

    Still.. doubt we get him.

His 4 year extension starts this upcoming season.

    Not much leverage there.

Jimmy Butler should go to New York. He can get paid and have no expectation for winning.

The opt-out thingy is odd. Unless there is a team with a TON of cap space ready to absorb our big-contract dude(s) not named Harden, sending 1st- or 2nd-year dudes in return etcetera etcetera. We'd need beaucoup money to operate under the cap, signing Butler and other players.

Trade Paul for cap room first, then figure out. Too hard.

What were the other free agent targets in the article (Chronicle wants me to subscribe to read the article online)

I just don't know how the Rockets can pursue him as a free agent if not after they move CP3 and one between Gordon and Capela. If they trade Capela and Gordon for no incoming salary (which should be easy btw) they would still be in a position where they can't sign him, and i'm pretty sure dumping Tucker would still not make this work so, that's not going to happen.

Maybe a sign & trade, that would hardcap us, but if is made after every other move maybe it won't hurt that much? I don't know tbh...

To me it seems like it's either opt in trade, or CP3 would be eventually dumped with Gordon or Capela, and one of the two guys would be replaced by a MLE signing, like:

    - trade CP3 to Orlando/Phoenix/Lakers for 1 pick or a rookie scale contract
    - trade Capela to Atlanta/Sacramento or Gordon to Indiana/Phila for picks/rookie scale contract/s
    - sign Butler
    - sign DeAndre/Redick/Ariza or whatever with the MLE (which would be small then the current one though)

    DeAndre
    PJ
    Butler
    Gordon
    Harden

    or

    Capela
    PJ
    Butler
    Redick/Ariza
    Harden

Plus we should've some picks and/or rookie scale players from the various trades.

If we could sign Noel with our tax payer MLE, I’d be okay with loosing Clint. I think getting Butler covers loosing Gordon, especially if we can sign someone like Ellington for vet or BAE.

We could also do Gordon, Tucker, Nene, Hartenstein and Clark in a S&T.

Loosing Tuck would be tough, but he’s nearly 9 years older then Clint, at 34 there’s a chance PJs not gonna be the same next season.

He's just saying he'll opt out to scare the Sixers into thinking he's leaving for nothing but he's really going to opt in because he wants to be traded to Houston. ;):D

Above has been my understanding unless murmurs that Butler is willing to take less to play in Houston are true.
