Untagging OP since he won't get anything out of this exchange. But for the benefit of all of you playing along at home who might be even remotely swayed by this nincompoop... Blaming the weather for these cities' prosperity. Bold move, Cotton. Liberal policies don't create homeless people. That is the line you need to draw here, and you fail. Over and over again. Cities have homeless people because only cities have the infrastructure to support and aid the homeless. Rural areas don't. A homeless person in a rural area is either living in poverty/squalor or is dead. Areas of wealth have inequality too. No one said they didn't. The more wealth, the greater the wealth disparity range is possible. What you've failed to do is demonstrate a link between liberal policies and inequality. You have a burden here to draw the line between X and Y, and you fail miserably, again. This is all without noting that the poor in most liberals cities likely have a higher standard of living than the same poor in rural conservative areas. Again -- is this a liberal policy? You could not have struck out harder if you tried.
There are always going to be weaknesses and strengths anywhere. Still, these are the most desirable places to live (it really isn’t arguable) and they all are ruled by democrats. So maybe you should think about that before posting foolish memes... or consider the success or failure of a place goes beyond politics.
Can you point us to the list of successful, conservative cities that have solved their homelessness issues?
Southern Republicans and Democrats together voted almost unanimously against the CRB of '64. It DOESN'T change the fact that a greater % of Republicans voted for the act than did Democrats. As far as politicians switching parties to Republican over this matter, Strom Thurmond was the only one while Senator's like Robert Byrd (for example) stayed Democrat. WRT the south, it has been 50+ years since the passage. Most of the voters of that time are dead now. It has almost zero affect on today's voting.
You never studied history right? All those white southern Dems who were unhappy with the Dems supporting the civil rights movement jumped to Nixon and the Republican party. Those racist southerners are now Republicans. The alt-right are Republicans bro. You don't know this?
Explain how Carter won the entire south or how Clinton won the majority of the south as well as a Democrat. Unless of course you're saying the entire south....Dems included are racist.
Both were southern governors - Clinton didn't win the south, just states like Arkansas and TN from which they were from. And I think Louisiana Carter was coming after the disgrace of Nixon And yes, a lot of racists voted for them. People were not very partisan back then. You had a lot of racists in both parties. Today, most of the alt-right style racists are by far Republican.
Clinton also won Georgia. His 2nd term he won Florida as well. Seems like quite a few of em to me. Sure as hell isn't a "solid republican south". Kinda crazy for the "first black president" as he was referred to at the time to get ANY support from the South if its so racist and right wing as you claim. Or maybe you're just full of ****. Nixon wasn't running. Ford was. Meanwhile, in 1972 the leading vote getter in the southern democratic primaries was.....George Wallace....probably the most well known Civil Rights opponent of all time. In the 1968 Presidential election, Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama voted for Wallace as well. Alt-right style racists aren't Republicans. The majority of them hate everyone that isn't alt-right. But nice try at conflating the two.
If you think Florida is a southern state like Alabama you are sadly mistaken - with cities like Miami alone shift it blue. You are trying to oversimplify things. The nation was sick of Nixon (who only resigned 2 years before) and the Republican Party was still defined by Nixon at that stage, not Ford. Who do you think the alt-right votes for? I'll give you a hint - their name has "right" in it for a reason! Republicans have the racists in this country - the hard core ones. The hate groups align with Trump and love him. He uses dog whistles to appease them. Heck many posters on here post things that use the same language has hate groups - just look at @dachuda86 - he uses some of the same arguments as white nationalists. Doesn't mean there are no white racists amongst the Dems -there are...but the concentration is definitely around Trump and Republicans. Dont believe me, go to 4chan or those other gathering places of white nationalist Pride - and they constantly show pictures of Trump and hate for liberals. You my friend have aligned yourself with hate and don't even realize it? I doubt it.
Again, this comment by republican senate leader mcconnell is amazing... Mitch McConnell: We paid for 'sin of slavery' by electing Obama https://www.courier-journal.com/sto...not-needed-after-obama-presidency/1497461001/
What's funny about this is that the sinners of slavery and those that think like them didn't elect Obama.
Came here to post just that. A grown ass man just embarrassed himself on a national stage admitting he didn't know something that any grade school child would know if they paid even a little attention while in school. That's....embarrassing beyond reproach in my opinion.
Oh no... it looks like fox & friends brien kilmead, joined by diamond & silk, weighing in on the history of Democrats and republicans and racism... do noted Princeton History professor gets to take kilmead to school. Great twitter thread...
