When they traded for Chris Paul in a period where the majority would say, just wait it out. He swung for the fence. Hit a ground rule double and was thrown out at home.
Agreed. Morey went for it in 2018 and it should have worked out. Just unfortunate. But yeah...this era looks like a wrap. Team clearly trending down in virtually all areas, especially ownership.
I hope we are all wrong but yes. We have very little present right now and no future. 2018/2019 was the worst year of Morey's career as a GM and it was because he only had one job and that was to save money. I don't see a single move we made that helps us beyond last year. 1. Signed CP3 to his promised money. 2. let Ariza Walk 3. Traded Anderson with Melton for worse players and easier contracts to move. 4. Traded those easy contracts and attached assets. 5. did not get House signed long term 6. signed good players off waivers and now they will get good deals elsewhere. 2018/19 ended in a second round exit. I also believe it ended this team's window. I hope Morey shocks us all but barring Butler being our hero and opting in. Next year will be similar to last.
I say “Nobody” because all we have is the vet minimum contracts and MLE. Honestly, what is the best player we could get for Clint? Or EG? Or CP3? NOBODY.
It's true. I saw Rudy making a statement about Barkley under his breath on TV in the off season and within a week or so, the NBA said the Rockets were tampering. Tinman, or Clutch might remember the details, I guess.
Good news is all the other teams out west are also trending down, and if Kawhi leaves Toronto or Butler leaves Philly everything is wide open. We can win with what we have plus MLE in wing defender. Lakers look good on paper but depends what’s else they sign. This is a boom or bust team. Because we all know Davis is the King of getting some minor injury that forces him to miss a bunch of time. They clearly don’t have much depth so if Lebron gets hurt again may miss playoffs again. Bucks have 5 free agents to important role players. Unlikely they will sign them all. Philly going to be committing lots of money this offseason or losing folks. Harris, Reddick, and Butler are all free agents. Warriors have two all stars on IR. Raptors have no clue what Kawhi will do. Could also potentially lose Green and Gasol. For all we know standing pat maybe the best option this year. Including us these are the six best teams and they are all beatable.
The Lakers made that mistake last year. They are not done yet. I’d be shocked if Lebron doesn’t get better 3 point shooters before they are done. They may even get a couple of ring chasers who will take discounts.
Trading assets and picks for an aging Chris Paul. We knew the decline was coming but figured we'd try to get a chip before it happened. We were close.....oh well.
Lakers team isn't all that scary...at all. Clutchfans filled with a bunch of middle school girls apparently.
Capela simply has to be better if we were to have a chance at anything, He's still young. Paul is shot
On Instagram on a Bleacher Repot post about AD going to the Lakers....Jimmy Butler "liked" the story. So there is that.
Raptors coached by Nurse.....who ran the Rockets system with the Vipers (I believe) Amazing how the NBA universe, media, fans hate the Rockets system.....but yet want all their coaches, players and management personnel.
I know Morey is trying his best. I think the board is in dismay because we ducked the tax which could have provided a player better than Gerald Green. And with all this smoke with CP3, it seems the strong culture we had is broken.
