Round Rock has batted around twice in the 7th inning. Yordan Alvarez does not have a hit or an RBI in this game... yet. They put up 13 runs to go up 19-3.
Yep. With all the crazy scoring in all the games this season (not just games Round Rock plays, look at, for example, Nashville and Reno, tied at 10 a piece), maybe some of these pitchers' numbers aren't that bad after all. We should appreciate Corbin Martin's 1.42 ERA in AAA. I guess some of the guys who had been "struggling" may just be suffering from the juiced ball. ETA: Tucker just homers (20) again! Despite a slow start, he's now only two behind Alvarez.
Alvarez was pinch hit for late in the game. Wishful thinking... [Of course, on a day many speculated Alvarez would be called up, he has his third two strike game in a row and goes 0-4 when everyone else has 24 hits, while White has 3 hits. Baseball can have such a sense of humor sometimes.]
Final RR score: 26-11. Without looking, I am guessing that RR was on the road at a high altitude park. ETA: at Las Vegas, altitude of 2000'. More like medium altitude
https://www.mlb.com/astros/prospects/stats/affiliates is listing Cionel Perez as RR starter tonight which may be apocryphal.
Round Rock averages over 6 runs per game..which is only good for 3rd in the league. We have a glittering 5.25 team ERA...which is actually better than league average. 4 teams have a team ERA over 6, one team is over 7. The offensive numbers are absurd.
If anyone’s curious what Yordan sounds like, an interview from last year about his thoughts on being picked for the Futures game, his craft, and playing for the Astros organization.
Tucker, 22, now has 20 homers on the 2019 campaign. After an awful start to the season, there haven't been many hitters better at any level than the 2015 first-round pick, and his OPS is now up to .955 over 212 at-bats to go along with 13 steals. Tucker is one of the best offensive prospects in baseball, and at some point, we should see that potential up with the Astros this season. - rotoworld
José Urquidy @ Salt Lake: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K Chad Donato @ Wilmington: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K R.J. Freure vs. Kane County: 5.1 IP, 2 H, 5 BB, 6 K
Luhnow just called Alvarez and Tucker the two best position player prospects in the minors. lmao it is so good to be us
Round Rock only has 10 position players on their roster. The only one on their bench for tonight’s game is C Oscar Campos.
