The significance of having a 3-point shooting center available

With an opposing dominant center like Gobert camped in the paint, Harden's effectiveness is SIGNIFICANTLY diminished, even after 5 games to adjust.

With a 3-point shooting center on the floor, centers like Gobert (or Giannis) can't camp down low. In fact, against teams like the Bucks w/ Giannis at center spreading the floor, Gobert is so ineffective he doesn't even play. This is what killed us in our last game vs Golden State with Boogie spreading the floor, scoring 27 and taking Capela away from the hoop on defense.

Meanwhile, I didn't realize Hartenstein shot 13-25 from three in the G-League Finals series (while winning series MVP), including 8-9 in one game. Next year I guess, especially if he can keep things honest in a switching defense.

yet the rockets can continue to beat the jazz in a series for the 2nd year in a row. Cool

how many times has the jazz been able to beat the rockets in the last 2 years again?

I don’t see any significance in a center shooting the three ball for me

I think as a backup getting 12-16 minutes a game Hartenstein would bring a nice wrinkle to our offense. Whether he is ready or not on defense is probably the main issue on whether we see him join the rotation next year.

Ha, not a HOF at all, just tired of seeing Harden rendered hapless in the last three games and wishing for a change other than just having to suffer through it and being that uncomfortably close to being down 3-2. I prefer dominance over close games.

ps TIL I learned what a burner account is.

It would certainly be helpful, I think Morey and MDA have been dreaming about it for some time. Whether it's Hartenstein or a FA signing I don't know, but I would like to see it as a tactical advantage off the bench. Finding someone who can hit 3's and protect the rim is not easy though. If they don't protect the rim, we're better off just working on Faried's 3pt shot this summer and re-signing him for minimum.

Rockets playoff record against the Jazz in the last 13 months: 8-2

    I think we're okay.

Of course 3 pt shooting is important but that is only on the OFFENSIVE side. We got 3 of the best offense players in Harden, Cp3, EG and in fact the team is already 2nd in offensive rating in the NBA, behind only GSW with 5 freaking all stars. OTH Rox are only 18th in defensive rating but because their offensive rating is so high they are still 5th overall.

In a situation where your offense is already one of the best but your defense is only 18th and your reb% is 28th why tf would you replace Clint with a 3 pt shooting center? If you can find a lethal 3 pt shooting center who can also defend, block shots and get rebs then ok but those guys don't exist that's why Porzingis is called a unicorn.

This is called missing the forest for the trees aka not looking at the big picture aka bbholic-itis
