I did say in my opinion LOL And I think you're incorrect. Last year is not indicative of his play he had to join the Packers for the last seven game of the season after the Panthers burned him. And he was just as bad last year as Roby (58.5 vs 59.8). This is the type of prove-it deals I would prefer. For those screaming for saving billionaire's money, Breeland is the cheaper/safer choice.
How many times have they traded for Cooks?.... The Rams were in a wholly unique circumstance: moving to LA. Last three? Drafted Deshaun Watson, Will Fuller, Zach Cunningham, Justin Reid; signed Tyrann Mathieu, Lamar Miller....... They didn't have a 1 or 2 last year. They'll have additional top-end picks this April. They could still package some of those in a trade. I'm not terribly disappointed they didn't throw insane money at this free agency class.
Not that it really matters, but don't think I am: Roby's High (2017): 78.3 Breeland's High (2015): 74 Roby's Low: 59.8 Breeland's Low: 58.5 Both coming off career lows but it seems that Roby has a bit of a higher ceiling being a former 1st rounder and a bit younger.
Hill? No. And we're seeing why right now as he may very well be facing an end to his career. I don't know about Hunt or Kelce's past transgressions so I can't comment. But fans make this much worse than it is. They're not adverse to drafting troubled players.
I thought you said Roby's highs AND lows were higher than Breeland's highs. Their highs and low grades are pretty close to each other and Breeland came at less than half the price. Roby's best year was as the 3rd corner with Talib ans Harris. He couldnt cut it as a 2 behind Harris. How do you think he would fare with the Texans as a 1 or a 2 beside Joseph???
I'm not for throwing insane money at free agent class but what about slightly-less-than-insane money? Interestingly enough, of the free agent CBs, Roby has the most cap-hit for this season. They could have spent a little less and gotten one of the other CBs and had more money to spend. Here's the list of annual salary: Roby-Texans-$10-1 Coleman-Lions-$9-4 Nelson-Steelers-$8.5-3 Darby-Eagles-$8.5-1 Desir-Colts-$7.5-3 According to sportsrac, Breeland's market value is 6.9M. Chiefs just got him for less than $5. That's a lot less than insane money for a CB who has been as good as Roby and as bad as Roby last year.
Kelce was suspended his sophomore year for smoking pot. Never got in trouble again. eta: Hunt was suspended for 2 games his Jr season for the old "violation of team rules".
I'm fine with that; throwing a slew of one-year, relatively cheap deals at our secondary would've been ideal. Same for the OL. BUT! Remember: it takes two to tango. We can't force anyone to sign a deal.
Gaine appears to be taking vacation during free agency period while other GMs are working around the clock to improve their team.
Remember it's Spring Break! He was out all last week but he's back in town now, we have guys coming in today.
It does take two to tango. The better the organization/GM, the more they can convince people to dance. The off-season is not lost yet. They could still end up with a better team next season but the options and opportunities to do so are closing fast. They could win the draft (i.e. Dillard, Ya-Sin, Risner) or could lose it (top 4 linemen gone by 1-23).
Not getting one of the top 4 linemen shouldn't be a huge problem seeing as this draft is shaping up to be a good one for linemen. Possibly through the first 4 rounds.
All I know is they better get someone versatile. Really not worried about who starts on the line to protect our franchise QB, I'm more worried about who can slide to what positions at various points in the game and if someone gets injured. Any feedback on guys like that? Guys who maybe we could move around from tackle to guard throughout the season? They don't need to be great at it, just only slightly overwhelmed. Thoughts? I'll hang up and listen. -BOB
I don't know about that. If Williams, Dillard, Taylor, and Ford are off the board I would be for trading down or drafting a different position. I don't think any of the other guys are first rounders (Risner is the closest).

I thought left guard was also a problem ...albeit, not as bad as the tackle spots. But even if one thinks our interior is in good shape, it's hard to argue that we have quality depth. So we need o-linemen, and i sincerely hope Gaine will unearth some gems late in free agency; after ignoring it early in free agency.
