This should be an easy decision for the Texans but it is not. They are having a hard time moving forward with interest in Penn because he wants the starting left tackle job to sign a 1 year deal. The Texans are wanting to continue forward with Davenport and a rookie at left tackle and are asking Penn about swing tackle position. Thats why Mills is the much more likely signing. Again, i dont agree with this, but I have heard that is their thinking as of right now. The teams I mentioned before are also interested in Penn, with New England willing to offer him the position he wants. Other teams have as well. Will be a hard sell for Houston to land Penn.

Comical. Calling it now, Texans sign Mills for cheap and Penn goes to another team for like 6 mil a year and the radio says how Penn was overpaid and the Texans were lucky to get out of it... Good God, I barely want to watch next season...

I don't see why you wouldn't just pick NE unless it's just money

Why dont they just sign Penn and tell him he has the starting job. Its a one year deal and if he gets outplayed by Davenport, then he gets outplayed and he becomes a swing tackle. Gawdammit Texans, it really shouldnt be that damn hard. We need bodies and Penn is at least a bit of an upgrade to just a camp body.

I feel like BOB is in Gaines ear too much and has way too much influence on the roster.

Sigh. He's much better than Roby IMO. And I bet he signed for like half the salary.

    I'm talking about last yr.

The Rams signed Suh/traded for Cooks/Peters/Talib etc...

The yr before they signed Whitworth/Woods/Sullivan/traded for Cooks.

Saints added Davenport and several LB's/DB's

Eagles fixed their Recieving corps and DB's thru FA/trade.

What have the Texans done in the last three offseasons compared to these teams in the FA/Draft market?

    Great post

This is all I was trying to say and until the Texans change their philosophy to this they will always be behind the eight ball in the draft. They need to absolutely nail this draft if they even HOPE to keep up with the Colts and will have to continue to nail future drafts if the HOPE to keep up with the Colts.

Do you think the Texans org would ever draft talented guys like Hunt/Hill/Kelce, who all have checkered pasts?

He is? Per PFF, Roby's career high and low were both higher than Breeland's.

Also, what did Hunt do? Prior to the draft, of course.
