“This is a total failure, there is no other way to put it,” said Victor Cha who led the Asia division of former President George W. Bush's National Security Council. “It shouldn't have happened, the spade work should have been done in advance.”

Idiot trump thinks that he doesn't need experienced diplomats, that he can do diplomacy with his "gut."
He certainly has the gut, the fat asshat.

This. Quite frankly I'm disappointed to see @glynch fall for the idea that Trump has a chance to accomplish peace.

Kim is playing a great game right now.

Glynch sees the world through his own prism.
Kim is taking trump to school. It's both embarrassing and dangerous.

Educate me on this line of thinking that Kim is winning something somehow.

Trump literally legitimized the Kim regime for absolutely nothing in return
The fact that he stood on equal ground with Kim is a spot in the face of every Patriot. Pathetic. Our leverage was refusing to recognize the fat dictator. Threw it all away and gave him propaganda material for the ages.

How did he legitimize the regime? By having 2 summits? By not threatening war non-stop? The South Koreans seem pretty intent on legitimizing the North. Are the North Koreans in an economically better position than before these meetings?

That is exactly how you legitimized a dictatorship. You have the most powerful leader in the world meeting with a dictator twice in 1 year. Now he's called a friend. Taking the word of a dictator. Concessions should have been made by Kim prior to any meeting. Throwing your own American citizen under the bus. Relinquishing military exercises.

We all know how off the rails Rodman was when he went Korea and professed his love for Kim. Trump now following in his footsteps.

You really can't see the forest for the trees can you.

So what are you supposed to do? Go to war? Would you have said similar things about when Nixon met with Mao? Or do you feel this is incomparable?

Also, do you think the South Koreans should be punished if they continue with their North Korean detente? Should they be sanctioned if they go to the Olympics under one flag?

No offense but as a Moderate the democrats looked pretty stupid this week. At the end of the day we're all Americans are we not? Is it really fair to a sitting President to deal with a lying witness speaking about ill about you while at the same time meeting Kim Jung? The north koreans obviously had all the leverage seeing how Trump needed a positive story that day. Seriously, could they not have waited until the following week? Its not like Cohen was giving us the cure to cancer.

This country is so divided its really quite sad seeing.

No, but he shouldn't have handled it in the manner he did. President Trump unlike other past presidents did give him legitimacy. They went from Dotard and Rocketman to this. I was hoping for the best but I'm very disappointed.

if he was indeed a lying witness then why would the POTUS be shookt and scurred?

and its the other way around.. Trump been vulnerable ever since he colluded with the russians, lied about it and obstructed justice multiple mtimes.. he took the america thru a shutdown, a made up emergency and now the whole world on this circus to get the attention off the investigations on him

Bullshit. It's actually that some people realize that Trump playing handjobs with the (straight up genocidal, let's be totally honest) Dictator of North Korea will not bring anything useful about. Trump can call him his "friend" all he wants, what does it really do in the long term?

Nobody wants war (despite what leftie loonatics like glynch keep saying) but rational people do want the Regime in NK to go away, and that's what the US should be working toward, constantly, not this dog&pony show that Trump has been rolling out as a distraction.

Dude, Trump needs a positive story every day. Trump needs his ego to feel good every day. Those are things that the NK probably knows better than some American.

Beside that silliness.. Congress is an equal branch of government, not one that pause and wait for the Executive branch. How about the Executive branch wait until Congress complete its investigation before going on to negotiate anything with any foreign power? No?

Yeah. The regime in North Korea isn’t going away anytime soon now. He has been legitimized and has more renewed support from his people. Trump has really helped him.

That is Trump's presidential legacy in Asia. That and trade wars that are easy to win.

    Great job!

He's received enormous propaganda value that legitimizes him in return for nothing. There's a reason no President would meet him without preconditions. Until the stable genius showed up and **** on decades of concerted efforts to isolate NK.
