It didnt prevent the trade. Morey knew what Anderson was worth. He also knew what Melo was worth. He felt they were worth the same. One of these guys has a terrible contract but can be benched without drama. The other one is a tradable asset provided you can keep him from blowing up the locker room.
Some of the Carmelo being a toxic guy news are overblown IMHO. Yes, he thinks he is still a star which is highly arguable at this point given his inconsistent production, which leads to him saying he wants to stay a starter. All totally fine......In the perfect universe we dun have either one of them. Preferably a stud costing less than 18 million.
Yeah...this has never been discussed in any threads before. Just search for one of the many and comment on it.
It is what it is at this point, we shouldn't have give him this contract but eh, looking at the "positives", only two years left and shouldn't be that big of a problem in a sign & trade scenario. I just wonder if the Rockets didn't really gave importance to his shooting % at the Toyota Center before they signed him, but i don't think this is possible, maybe the sample was just small.
Really? This has been discussed to death. We tried to trade him all last summer. We are stuck with him. End of story.
is there a way of combining a Rhino thread with stuff about DMo and Max Kellerman? now THAT would be a new angle . . . .
we can't change the contract. What we can change is him being a deadly shooter again when he ACTUALLY decides to shoot I would rather him shoot the ball every time he catches it than what he's doing now
Melo will be a $28 million contract that literally has a NO-TRADE CLAUSE in it. Not exactly easily tradable.
I hope CF prepares itself because we are likely going to lose EG trying to deal away Ryno's terrible contract. I just hope he doesn't come back to kill us next year during the regular season. If we lose EG and Ryno and get and aging Lebron, it's still a plus for us. It's too bad the god damn Pacers couldn't knock out the Cavs in round 1 and the Raptors are seriously choking again to Lebron's team in round 2... already down 0-2 with no home court advantage. Lebron's chances of leaving goes lower and lower with each playoff series he wins.
Ryan Anderson said it best in an interview awhile back "I thank God every night before I go to sleep for that contract"
Ryno's 2019 cap hit ($20.4M) fits perfectly into his hometown kings' projected cap space ($20.7M), and they apparently made him a very similar offer in free agency before he decided to try to win with us. i don't think morey has been willing to part with anderson for nothing in return, or worse, give up an asset to move him... but not cracking the rotation should be the tipping point. i see him getting moved with summer, either for nothing but a trade exception, or with a future pick... most likely to the kings.
