Every big name mentions the Rockets at first to try to leverage the team they will eventually sign with. No way this happens.
Not sure if posted before: http://basketball.realgm.com/wireta...gn-With-Rockets-After-Rivers-Talks-Broke-Down Report: Chris Paul Told Clippers He'd Sign With Rockets After Rivers Talks Broke Down JUL 31, 2013 12:10 PM Chris Paul informed the Los Angeles Clippers that he was planning on signing with the Houston Rockets to join James Harden and Dwight Howard when the deal for Doc Rivers fell apart, according to a report from ESPN's Bill Simmons. The Clippers ended negotiations with the Boston Celtics over the compensation they would send in exchange for Rivers. The Clippers eventually reinitiated talks and send a future first round pick to the Celtics. Paul subsequently agreed to a $107 million new contract with the Clippers.
Well damn .... maybe?? I know I wasn't thinking that. Which is weird because I feel like I've been painted/made myself into some kind Rockets/Harden hater... but I actually had hope until they were actually out of the playoffs
This is the kind of guy that the Rockets need. They need another alpha personality that's going to hold Harden accountable. Going to agree with you on this one. Although hopes were dampened after game 5 most people I know were not thinking the series was automatically over. Especially since Leonard was not going to play and was possibly going to be hobbled when/if he came back.
You are probably right And CP3 is making pressure to the Clippers to recieve the 5 year max deal But how know what the Clippers are going to do. Knicks wish have not give Carmelo thar max contract.
A chance to get another elite on this team? F*ck. Yes. We'll find a way to make it work. Make it happen Morey.
Everyone thinks Harden needs an authority figure, but not every responds well to authority. It might turn Harden off.
If we get rid of Lou and Ariza's contracts, do we have enough cap room to offer Paul the max? @BimaThug
Nope, we have something around 12M in cap space as today, if we trade for no salary Lou and Trevor we gain 14M (7+7) so we end up with 26M to sign players, but Paul max should start around 35M. Even if you trade Anderson alone (19M) wouldn't be enough to max Paul.
Dear CF - When you are a star player in the NBA, you DO NOT NEED OTHER TEAMS FOR LEVERAGE.... Did Durant use Boston as leverage last year? NO Did Lebron us NY as leverage in 2010? NO Did Melo use Chicago for leverage? NO Chris Paul will get the max or super max (from LAC) depending on who he chooses. If the Rox are actually getting a meeting, then great. He is exploring best options to dethrone the warriors. PERIOD.. Cmon - AND BE POSITIVE FOR GOD'S SAKE - For once /rant
CP3 isn't likely to sign here but.... it is possible Roll the dice because we have to take chances to have a chance at winning the west. Some of you would rather stand pat and repeat this year over and over....
Chris Paul's max will start at around $36 million. If the Rockets want to sign him, they'd likely have to trade both Anderson and Lou for little to no salary in return. Difficult, but not impossible.
http://www.basketball-reference.com...tephen+Curry&player_id2=curryst01&idx=players Nobody plays Curry better. Remember what I wrote about short quick guys who can attack Curry's, dribble and then force him to defend on the other end? When I was talking about drafting Mason? Paul is exhibit A of that argument. If the Spurs manage to net Paul, they will be set to take on the Warriors very well, provided they remain healthy. And if we get Paul, the obvious move for us would be Harden to the three, with Paul and Bev in the backcourt. Then you get the right matchup to neutralize Green and we're in business.
