That "Corey leapfrogged KJ" was from ESPN last week or so, saying how one player was taken off the trade block and the other presumably put on it (not that KJ has ever been part of the rotation). I don't know. D'Antoni needs Corey now for some depth, and sometimes I wonder if the Rockets are still looking for that dreamy feeling they got when we first acquired Brewer. Except now it's the same heroin, it's gone a bit stale, and it's a bad trip. Nothing personal against Brewer, of course. He's a decent dude and apparently does as the coaches ask (although the BFF attachment he and Bickerstaff Junior brought with them from Minnesota dismayed me; Brewer showed up against the Raptors last year, and that's the extent of his 2015-16 accomplishments). If or when Morey finds a trade he can live with, Corey Brewer will no longer be a Rocket. But Brewer is a bill to which you must attach riders (younger better players, money, a draft pick) for it to pass through Congress. Unless Brewer really does have compromising pictures of Les / Morey / D'Antoni / et al. In which case we're stuck with the "ferret who downed 10 espressos" (quoted from one of the dudes on SR790; does it matter which one?)
I've been thinking about it, and IMHO the main reason Brewer gets PT is he probably kills it in practice. In the office I worked at before we had a tournament between departments, and the "team leader" organized weekly practice sessions before the match. My friend who wasn't that good religiously attended all the practice sessions, and when the league started the team leader gave him the bench mins over other guys who were better players but didn't show up to any practice session at all, saying he "earned it" and the other guys couldn't really say anything. I think it's the same phenomenon, we all know Brewer puts 100% effort every time he's on the court, maybe he does the same in practice too whereas KJ Mcdaniels and Wiltjer are just living it up as NBA players. We don't really know what goes through behind the scenes lol.
Only reasons for him constantly being in the rotation is he's got to be either a vocal leader or teammates really like him, or his occasional spurts on offense or fastbreak
Get rid of this guy yesterday. Get rid of this guy yesterday. Get rid of this guy yesterday. This guy sucks. He's hurting your team. You continue to play him for some baffling reason. There is no showcase to be had. He's a 10-year veteran. GET.RID.OF.HIM. or for the love of God STOP.PLAYING.HIM. He's of no use. He's of no value. He doesn't help your team. W-O-R-T-H-L-E-S-S.
Brewer would fit in well at Eggball Texans with the rest of them no talent, headless chickens. He just needs to get on the Keith Jones diet and put on another 200 lbs
I would love to get rid of Brewer, but realistically, there's no way anyone would take him unless you were giving them a first round pick too, maybe even more than that. He's THAT bad at basketball.
At this point , I don't think it matters how big of a selfish cancer KJ must be , you've got to give him a shot over Brewer . Maybe his attitude changes with PT . Corey is a gigantic net negative that will KILL us when we play good teams . Think about how good our bench unit is . Gordon , bev , Dekker , Harrell ( or whatever C) ... Now think about how much better it would be if we use that combo with a wing not named Corey Brewer . The starters can't carry him . Anderson please get healthy . We desperately need you . Not only for your skill , but also because you can limit Corey's minutes
They must be playing Brewer to try and salvage some trade value. Need to bite the bullet and sit him down. He's the living definition of a washed up player.
Calvin Watkins– Verified account @calvinwatkins MDA shows support for Corey Brewer says people only look at the surface of what he does. 3:24 PM - 20 Jan 2017 That's all that matters to us fans...we don't care about doing the laundry, washing the plane, attaching the nets to the rims, etc. Looks like management has delivered the memo to MDA on talking up Brewer.
Brewer gets playing time because he cares and plays really hard. With that said..... His Bad out weighs his Good by a long shot. His talent doesn't fit this team.
HORSESHIT. Though Rockets guard/forward Corey Brewer has struggled with his shot through most of the season, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni gave his most forceful statement yet about the quality of Brewer's play overall and his place in the rotation. "The only thing that Corey might not do is make shots. We all know that. That's what you see. What you don't see is the energy he brings every game, great defense he brings every game, he'll take the hardest guy (to defend) out there every game. And that's like putting it in a lockbox. "Then, there's what he's going to do in practice and in the locker room and everywhere else. If he makes a couple shots, man, that's great. If he doesn't, it's still good. He's a winner." Brewer is averaging 4.1 points on 40.1 percent shooting and 23.2 percent 3-point shooting. But the Rockets are outscoring opponents by eight points per 100 possessions with Brewer on the floor. "We got a lot of people who can make shots," D'Antoni said. "We're trying to stop people and he's one of our better defenders. I don't worry about the offensive end. "To go away from that and say, "Well, we'll get somebody else and maybe he'll make some shots. I don't know if he can play defense, or won't move the ball like Corey, or won't run the floor, but will make a couple shots.' People are just looking at the surface. Every time he plays the team is better." http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...ike-D-Antoni-defends-the-play-of-10872897.php
Every time D'Antoni says he plays "because of things that we don't see", he sounds like a fool. Brewer is bad. End of story.
