Out of the Blockbuster categories, I think the Heist Genre is one of, if not the only, genre where an All-Female cast works . As we saw in Ocean 11 with Roberts and scores of classic films, women make excellent thieves in movies. Ghostbusters as a comedy is very hard to pull off...even for four male comedians.

But of course, this is a reboot, so good luck matching the OG version and first remake. That said, there is no reason to think a Heist movie can't be as good as various Bond movies throughout the franchise...if they get a good story. There is a lot more freedom to invent than Ghostbusters. I don't know why many fans are comparing it to that.

Gotta be classy, yet devious, for the heist role, because he'll be dating some super-wealthy power-woman or something when Bullock gets out of jail...and someone who can still make Bullock and all the women in the theater swoon

Aside from Di Caprio and no Clooney or Pitt (because it will be hard to forget their Ocean 11 character)

And if I can only pick one,

    Jon Hamm

Although a great twist would be

    Idris Elba

Cast looks solid to me except Sandra Bullock and Mindy Kaling which are kinda WTF. Kaling is funny but not chic enough, and SB seems a little old and sweetheart for it.

The problem is the ghostbusters cast was also on point. The execution is key and people are just tired of reboots. A very small percentage of people were even aware of Sinatra's O-11, everyone watching this will know.

The female cast is to deflect criticism, just like Ghostbusters. If you go male or even split gender it will just be a "JV team" cast making it this soon. Go female and that is gone, you have a fresher start.

Also, along with what JayZ750 said, a core problem with reboots is the only people who really want to make them is the studio. They aren't passion projects they are packaged products and the end result always suffers.

Doesn't Clooney define old and sweetheart, and sexy, no? And Sinatra, for that matter.

Clooney was 40, SB will be what, 53 when this is made? Clooney wasn't sweetheart he was heartthrob.

    Sinatra was 45

So all female re-boots of movies are a thing now I guess.

In before the all LGBT re-boots begin...

Giving roles to women that used to belong to men isn't really feminist. It's saying that they don't think women can carry an original franchise and have to rely on the familiarity that the men built. Now, I can kind of understand the female Ghostbusters in that if you wanted to do a movie about women catching ghosts, it's going to make people immediately think of Ghostbusters anyway. But you can easily do a female ensemble heist movie without having it be a reboot of a male dominated franchise. It doesn't have to be an "Oceans" movie and I think that's the part that bothers me the most. I think it's insulting to the audience for blatantly attaching name recognition to the project. And I think it's insulting to women that they don't think women can put off a heist movie without attaching a name to it that men built up.

There is a great "Masterminds" episode where this woman had all of her employees dress up in the same outfits with red wigs and go to offer superior maid service. At the end of the day, when the owner came back, the house was cleaned out. That would make for a great heist movie. (I'm missing details.)

It's "Masterminds: Season 3 Ep. 13 - "Cleaning House." But I can't find the video online.

They should have added Melissa McCarthy's character from Spy as an adversary.

There are still better parts and scripts for an all female ensemble. Not GBusters obvsly.
