Not many coaches survive a failed highly picked/highly paid QB... And the rare ones that do (off the top of my head: Marvin Lewis, Jeff Fisher) aren't necessarily overly successful. I don't think it's a literal connection... It just usually ends up working out that if the QB fails, the team likely fails as well, and that would probably be a good time to go another direction regarding the coaching staff. BOB has achieved some decent results so far with sub-par QB play... But even if he hadn't won, his job probably was still safe as none of these QB's carried much expectation. Now you add a QB that does carry some... It makes sense that you're not going to settle for multiple non playoff seasons, or seasons where you back into the playoffs thanks to a horrible division.

We are all waiting with bated breath to see what your whipping boy-slash-dead horse will be next season! You're not an Astros fan, are you?
7 NFL experts were asked who will make biggest impact out of the free agents. Spoiler alert: Several pick Osweiler including former Texans GM Charley Casserly <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">We asked 7 experts.<br>FIVE of them agreed.<br><br>Which FA will have the BIGGEST impact in '16? <a href="https://t.co/fbZYq7dLEc">https://t.co/fbZYq7dLEc</a> <a href="https://t.co/46o7lUiKnO">pic.twitter.com/46o7lUiKnO</a></p>— NFL (@NFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/707793131979329537">March 10, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
spoiler alert: Some of those that pick Osweiler aren't sure the impact is going to be positive for the Texans.
Well I'll say something positive about Brock... he didn't deserve to be benched in that last game. Most of those turnovers were not even his fault. He has a big opportunity here and I hope he elevates himself into a great franchise qb. Still wanted RG3 though.
Scenario A: Wentz/Goff would cost 2 or 3 first rounders at least Scenario B: Lynch would most likely cost at minimum a first or a couple of second rounders Scenario C: Drafting Cook/Hackenberg as a backup to Savage to start the year Scenario D: Osweiler while maintaining all of your picks In my opinion, the only QBs even remotely worth taking in this draft are Wentz and Goff, and both of them would cripple future drafts while neither are any more of a sure thing than Brock. Plus, with a rookie you would be assuredly pushing the timeline back on window for success. I said it earlier: I can get not loving Brock. I do not understand criticism of this move. It is such a no-brainer once you actually consider the alternatives.
I just hope this signing doesn't hamper Savage's opportunity at a legit shot at starter, let the best man win just as Philly is doing with Daniel and Bradford.
