never liked howard, no skill, pure athleticism, got destroyed by Yao every single time they play, just doesn't give you positive energy every single game, definitely not wanted on Rocekts

i tried really hard to like him, but i can't do it any more, our team is falling off the cliff, and he is the weight we need to get rid of before we can take off again, not saying this season's failure is totally on him, but i don't want him to be a rocket

    This ....

The downside risk of injury/decline is huge.

Also, the offense will flow through DMo down low and we don't need to spend a massive chunk of dough/capspace at a position where we need D and garbage collection.

Flow on the court, protection, and flexibility to do what we need to.

Irrelevant. Just read in the other thread that Dwight to Atlanta is a done deal.

I actually hated Dwight after the SVG interview thing... he grew on me. Actually seems like a decent guy who wants to be a good teammate...

His frustration is evident... when that frustration results in stupid fouls - that's his bad...

But the lob dunks that he gets are thunderous... Idk why he doesn't get more tossed his way... that's where we miss JSmoove, he was about the only guy tossing those up to him last year... This year he gets a couple each game, but should be a LOT more imo... We should be trying to run a lob to D12 10 or more times a night!

When they're young...once you're in Dwights situation, it may be best to get this last 20 mill, then sign a (for example- 4yr )max..compared to opting out for the max first. That way you get 5 years of 20+, compared to 4yrs and then a huge pay cut in ur 5, when he'll be 34-35 ish.

Of course, one always worries theyll get hurt during their opt in year, but some take that gamble.

My thought was Dwight planned on staying here on a smaller deal next year and therefore would take this final year's money, but I guess not. I just dont see how he expects to get a max, given his current role and production...I think opting out is a clear sign hes looking to go elswhere.

    Rockets aren't trading him period.
Never say never but I'd be surprised.

    He'll be a free agent.

Well then why not trade him? And if he gets hurt and or keeps declining he will opt in with us for 20+mill. The risk is too much for us.

Doesn't make sense to keep him at 30 million a year. He'll have to compromise if he wants to play for a contender. Maybe the Rockets pay him that, but I wouldn't.
