I wonder how he'd handle the adrenaline of pitching at home in the playoffs, could be totally boom or bust. Also, could Kazmir's stuff (or lack thereof) fare better at KC? Lots of folks cite his previous start at KC for the Astros as a reason to give him a shot in the first two games.

Moot point if the guys can't win tonight.

    Go 'stros!!

He and Castro are exactly where they should be in the lineup. Let's hope Carter keeps his hot streak going.

Serious question: in how many games this season did Carter NOT record a strikeout ? I'm gonna go with less than 5

I'm not shocked by the line up, which is a good thing. These are the guys that need to be on the field. Good lawdy the amount of home runs this line up could produce. And... Strike outs as well.

Nope...you continue to be wrong. There are 10 playoff spots, 3 division winners and 2 wild cards in each league. There is no denying that. It's very simple.

Would you be surprised if I said he did it 5 times in April and 20 for the season. That doesn't count games where he had less than 3 PA

if you can remove the knowledge that young owns from your brain, that yank's lineup is just not intimidating.

Today's line has produced 169 homeruns on the season. Counting Gomez 4 in Houston.

Never said they don't officially make the playoffs. I said that I personally don't consider it to be really making the real playoffs if you don't get past this wild card game. I can certainly consider it however I want, and if we lose, I will not put this team up there with any of the Astros playoff teams of the past. No different than teams that lose in Dayton for the NCAA tournament did not really make it to the NCAA tournament in my mind either (though officially, they obviously did).

To me, this would be no different than the Astros teams in 97 or 2001 that got swept in the NLDS

Does anybody even truly remember those teams or those series?

Hell, most cities don't even acknowledge LDS series wins as an actual thing.

In the end, however you're saying the 5th team out of a 15 team league is basically equivalent to the 68th team in a 68 team league? That's profoundly retar-ded.

Not too sure if anybody else has stated this or not but would any of you prefer to see Valbuena play 1st and Gonzales play 3rd and possibly Carter PH? I know Carter's bat has been hot of late but his D and baseball knowledge scare me. Thoughts?

    1st post also lol
