I know he has a knee injury but from what I heard it was minor, a bruise. And since he provides a lot of what we need; rim protection, length and 3-point shooting, I was curious as to why we haven't heard anything? But I still think we need someone else with a similar skill set to make noise in the playoffs, Bolton would b nice too.
Bruno has a bone bruise on his knee. It happened on Jan 13th. They said it was a 4-6 week recovery. So after the all-star break for sure. And to be fair, I don't think Bruno will be in the rotation this season. His acquisition looks more geared towards next season.
I just find it hard to believe MDA would play Bruno ahead of Thabo at backup C. I think that's where we are at that point at least for this season.
I am not sure that defending low post is maximizing him on D. He is much better as weak side blocker.
When Bruno is ready I think MDA will play him. There is no next season. MDA might not be here next season
https://probballreport.com/ujiri-admits-raptors-made-a-mistake-with-bruno-caboclo/ Really interesting piece on him. Basically he came over too early and is a year behind on development because he wasn’t properly developed in the G-League as a Non-English speaking 18 year old. He is fluent in English and way more developed than you guys can imagine. Masai admits he’s screwed up his development and traded him to give him a new opportunity, sadly it was to Sacramento who hasn’t a clue on how to develop. Flash forward two years and several Viper stints later and He was stuck in Memphis behind three guys who are future cornerstones to that franchise. You can’t give crucial development minutes to a guy who isn’t in your future plans. Morey has him in our plans and I anticipate he is in the rotation by mid March playing 10-15 MPG. If I had to guess, Jerry Stackhouse will be on staff next season.
You must have forgotten how MDA coaches. If anything, he’ll shrink the rotation. Bruno won’t get anything more than spot minutes this season.
I think you are wrong. Morey picked up Bruno for a reason. And he is more playable than either Tyson, Harty or Clemons.
every time tilman look down towards the bench and see bruno waiving his towel with those super long arms, the rotational motion gonna contentedly remind him of the shiny propeller on his cherished new 3rd chopper
Morey went all in on small ball and said now MDA has 10 players he can confidently put on the court. Against the Lakers, in RoCo's first game, MDA played NINE players. PJ played 30 minutes when he usually plays 40. Harden only played 35 minutes in the most satisfying win of the season. MDA will expand the rotation if you fit into how he wants to play. I think Bruno is a player MDA would play- threes, length, defense, rebounding.
Morey picked up a lot of players that MDA doesn’t play. Now I think he should play Bruno consistent minutes but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Morey always says he “believes in the roster” or that there is “room for internal improvement”. Those are standard GM platitudes. MDA should expand his rotation (I’ve always felt that way) and I hope he does. But Mike has been know for tightening up his bench as the season progresses. That ‘17-‘18 team was the deepest team he’s had here and I seem to remember him running 6-7 guys on the road in GSW.
