During most seasons, it's ridiculous to start a magic number thread this early in the season. I mean, it's not even all-star break yet. BUT.. this season is different. We're incredible. How to calculate our magic number: (Total games in a season) + 1 - (Current Wins by Rockets) - (Current losses of playoff seeking teams) Rockets have 43 wins currently so here's our magic number against teams in the hunt: Clippers: 82 + 1 - 43 - 26 = 14 Jazz 82 + 1 - 43 - 28 = 12 Lakers 82 + 1 - 43 - 32 = 8 We're legit. Too legit to quit now.
We have 43 wins. Before the All Star Break. Remember a couple of seasons ago when we had 41 wins total... for the entire season? It's a good season to be a Rockets fan
Magic Number is 16 to clinch at least the 2nd seed (15 if we own the tiebreaker over the Spurs...we do right now) Magic number is 26 to clinch the top seed in the West.
There's 2 games separating 3-9... Glad we chose this season to be elite, that would be very nerve-wracking.
As long as we have Harden and help, I never worry about the postseason deniability. 2016 was an aberration. We have a bonafide superstar. Spare me the precautions.
New Magic Numbers: To make the playoffs: -Clippers 82 + 1 - 44 - 26 = 13 -Jazz 82 + 1 - 44 - 28 = 11 -Lakers 82 + 1 - 44 - 33 = 6 To get the first seed: -Warriors (we own the tie-breaker) 82 - 44 - 14 = 24 Edit: Lakers lost tonight so it's --> 82 +1 -44 - 34 = 5
How to calculate our magic number: (Total games in a season) + 1 - (Current Wins by Rockets) - (Current losses of playoff seeking teams) Rockets have 46 wins currently so here's our magic number against teams in the hunt: Clippers: 82 + 1 - 46 - 27 = 10 Jazz 82 + 1 - 46 - 29 = 8 Lakers 82 + 1 - 46 - 34 = 3 We're legit. Too legit to quit now. If we win 22 of our 23 games left, we're guaranteed the top spot in the playoffs.
Rockets could clinch a playoff spot next week. Magic Numbers just 4 (Rockets wins + Clippers/Nuggets loses)
(Total games in a season) + 1 - (Current Wins by Rockets) - (Current losses of playoff seeking teams) Rockets have 49 wins currently so here's our magic number against teams in the hunt: Clippers: 82 + 1 - 49 - 28 =6 Jazz 82 + 1 - 49 - 30 = 4 (actually this is 3 bc we won the season series against them) Lakers 82 + 1 - 49 - 35 = ELIMINATED from the Rockets discussions To get the first seed over the Warriors, the magic number is: Warriors 82 - 49 - 14 = 19
(Total games in a season) + 1 - (Current Wins by Rockets) - (Current losses of playoff seeking teams) Rockets have 50 wins currently so here's our magic number against teams in the hunt: Clippers: 82 + 1 - 50 - 29 = 4 (against the Thunder it's the same ) Jazz 82 - 50 - 30 = 2 (we won the season series against them) Lakers ELIMINATED from the Rockets discussions To get the first seed over the Warriors, the magic number is: Warriors 82 - 50 - 14 = 18 Against the third seed Portland Trailblazers: 82 + 1 - 50 - 26 = 7 with 19 games left. Seriously... we can't lock up the 2nd seed by winning 7 more games. Against the East leading Raptors: 82 + 1 - 50 - 17 = 16
Basically we're one win away from guaranteeing a spot in the playoffs with 18 games remaining. If we can just figure out a way to go 1-17 we're in. To me... it deserves. Its. Own. Thread. Rockets have 51 wins currently so here's our magic number against teams in the hunt: Clippers: 82 + 1 - 51 - 29 = 4 (against the Thunder it's the same ) Jazz 82 - 51 - 30 = 1 (we won the season series against them) Nuggets 82 - 51 - 30 = 1 (we won the season series against them) Lakers ELIMINATED from the Rockets discussions To get the first seed over the Warriors, the magic number is: Warriors 82 - 51 - 14 = 17 Against the third seed Portland Trailblazers: 82 + 1 - 51 - 26 = 6 with 18 games left. Seriously... we can lock up the 2nd seed by winning 6 more games. Against the East leading Raptors: 82 + 1 - 51 - 17 = 15
